The Scottish Women’s Convention (SWC) was set up by the Scottish Executive in 2003 in recognition of the need to ensure women’s voices reach policy makers. We work to give women throughout Scotland the opportunity to be involved in our activities and events. Our events include conferences on a range of topics, roadshows, roundtables and surveys. The information gathered at these events is then compiled and reported to key decision-makers at a national and international level, as well as women who can then use our materials to challenge unfair practice. By working with individuals and local organisations, we are able to meet with a diverse range of women, with different experiences, backgrounds and cultures. The Scottish Women’s Convention (SWC) undertakes a number of activities throughout the year, engaging with women on a local and national level.

Objectives: 3.1 to promote the equality of women with men and to work towards the elimination of prejudice and discrimination against women. and 3.2 to promote citizenship and civic responsibility among Scottish women by providing opportunities for them to engage with and influence policy development and generally to participate in Scottish civic life. and 3.3 to advance the education of the general public, politicians and policy makers on all matters relating to gender equality and the relative position of men and women and Scottish society
