Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'

Taymara is a Scottish charity that improves the quality of life for people facing severe ill-health, especially children, and for people with learning disabilities. We do this by creating inspiring experiences that build confidence, skills, and fresh perspectives. Through safe, supported trips on the River Tay using our vessels, participants explore wildlife, navigation, teamwork, and problem-solving. These activities help shift focus away from illness or limitation and towards curiosity, learning, and possibility. For children affected by serious illness, we also provide follow-on land-based activities linked to heritage, environment, and everyday life, giving them positive interests to share with family and friends. For people with learning disabilities, our work helps reveal abilities that are often underestimated, renewing confidence for both participants and carers.

Objectives: 1. The provision of recreational and training benefits for the benefit of vulnerable groups and those generally excluded for economic reasons from participating in waterborne activities by providing a sea training and experience facility. 2. The relief of those experiencing ill health or suffering from the effects of ill health in others, those with disabilities, particularly learning disabilities, and those in the care of the criminal justice system, by assisting them to make positive changes in their lives through the experience of life and training at sea
