Halkirk District Benefit Fund provides community benefit to individuals residing in and to groups operating in the area of benefit. The area of benefit is Halkirk District Community Council boundary, this includes Altnabreac, Banniskirk, Calder, Georgemas, Harpsdale, Spittal, Mybster and Westerdale. Halkirk District Benefit Fund receives an annual payment from the 21 turbine Causeymire Wind Farm, which is owned and managed by Nadara. The wind farm is situated near several sites of special scientific interest and is part of the wider Flow Country area. Organisations and clubs can apply for membership and grant funding if they are based in or operating in the Halkirk District Community Council area. Funding applications are considered by the Board of Directors. These applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and must demonstrate a clear community benefit for residents of the area of benefit.

Objectives: 4.1 The Company's main Purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The Company's Purposes are: 4.1.1 To provide or advance the accessibility of recreational facilities, and/or organising recreational activities, which will be available to members of the Community and public at larqe with the obiect of improvinq the conditions of life of the Community. 4.1.2 Advancement of citizenship or Community development, including rural or urban regeneration. 4.1.3 To advance educational opportunities in the Community relating to environment, culture, heritaqe and/or history. 4.1.4 To advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the Community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the Community.
