Objectives and activities
The aims of Lothian Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club (hereinafter referred to as LPWBC) shall be to promote the welfare of all people with a disability through the sport of wheelchair basketball and in furtherance thereof

e To provide sporting and leisure opportunities related to wheelchair basketball for all people with a disability.

e To help individual members develop confidence through participation in sport and leisure activities related to wheelchair basketball in order to promote health and wellbeing.

e To encourage individual members to develop any particular sporting abilities which they may have, and to aid them in furthering their sporting potential to a level to which they aspire.

e To provide and promote opportunities for club members to participate in a range of sporting and leisure activities related to wheelchair basketball, including competitive opportunities, and encourage and support them to do so.

e To publish and distribute regular up-to-date information on club activities and facilities.

e To function as an affiliate of Lothian Disability Sport (LDS) in accordance with the constitution and aims of that body.
As of the 31° of May 2025, the Club had active members within its junior teams and also had an aduit 1* team and a development team.
A sense of "Community Involvement" is central to the Club and is enshrined in our constitution and is at the heart of the work we carry out.
Structure, governance and management
- Type of governing document
The Club is governed by a Constitution which is available to the public via the website. The Constitution was adopted in 2006 upon formation and has been regularly reviewed.
Trustee recruitment and appointment
We aim to have a diverse Board of Trustees and Executive Committee in order to make the Club more effective and have the right mix of skills and experience to boost our ability to meet our aims. Nominations and selections are made in line with the following principles:

At each AGM, the members may elect any member (unless he/she is debarred from membership) to be a Charity Trustee.

The Executive Committee may at any time appoint any member (unless he/she is debarred from membership) to be a Charity Trustee or Executive Committee member.
Achievements and performance
National League: The club performed well within the National League, successfully maintaining positions in both Division 2 and Division 3.
Eurocup 2025: The first team competed at the Eurocup 2025, delivering an impressive performance to finish in 3rd place.
Individual Honours: In a standout achievement for the club, Ben Leitch was honored as one of the All-star 5 players of the Eurocup tournament.
Junior Development: The junior teams continue to thrive and have maintained a strong presence throughout the season.

Statement of the charity’s policy on reserves
Any grant funding is ringfenced and used for the purpose intended. The club aims to have a reserve of at least £3k at all times in order to ensure the running costs for any 3 month period can be met.
Future plans
The Club has been successful this season in terms of member growth and remain committed to developing our players, coaching teams and improving the quality of facilities available.
