Sports Driving provides pony driving lessons for disabled people including those with learning disability and on the autistic spectrum. Our objectives are to develop confidence and a sense of achievement, improve self-esteem, gain benefits to physical & mental health and enjoy an exciting challenging sport that is fun. We use the operating name “Sports Driving Unlimited” (SDU) to indicate that anyone with a disability can take part and benefit from pony driving. We have specially designed carriages that carry a wheelchair and athletic ponies with excellent temperaments. We work in partnership with non-profit Chariots of Fire Equestrian Centre CIC near Lockerbie and with other local charities, including Rotary clubs. We enjoy local and national recognition, voted Dumfries & Galloway Life Voluntary Group of the Year 2012 and Horsescotland Club of the Year 2015, Carriage Driving Voluntary Group of the Year 2020. SDU were awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2020

Objectives: [I] The provision of facilities for sports driving for children and young people in need and people ' with a disability or health problems in order to promote fulfilment and benefit to their mental and physical health from sports driving and associated activities. [2] The provision of facilities for sports driving for children and young people in need and people with a disability or health problems as a basis for educational and learning purposes. 3) The encouragement and assistance of research into the effect of sports driving for the aforesaid purposes.
