Working in close partnership with our affiliate CILIP, we provide support for and advocate for over 1000 members, working across all parts of the library and information sector, across Scotland and beyond. We deliver a rich programme of professional development activities every year, including our Annual Conference and a diverse array of online learning sessions, and our dynamic network of Regional Branches and Special Interest Groups ensures that every member is part of a professional community. We also support our members to achieve and maintain professional excellence through CILIP Certification, Chartership, Fellowship and Revalidation.

Objectives: The advancement of education by:- 4.1.1 working with CILIP to set, maintain and promote standards of excellence in the creation, management, exploitation and sharing of information and knowledge resources in Scotland. 4.1.2 fostering and promoting education, training, and research in matters connected with information science and libraries and information services 4.2 The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture, science by:- 4.2.1 promoting and encouraging the maintenance of adequate and appropriate provision of library and information services of various kinds in Scotland. 4.2.2 scrutinising any legislation affecting the provision of library and information services and to promoting such further legislation as may be considered necessary to that end.
