Summary of activities 2023-2024
Our role as Paisley Methodist church is to further the mission of the Christian church in general, to help people to grow and learn as Christians, to be a good neighbour to people in need and to make more followers of Jesus Christ.
Our philosophy is summed up by the four statements, all people need to be saved, all people can be saved, all people can know they are saved and all people can be saved to the uttermost. Our role is to bring people to Christ for them to be saved.
We draw people in by opening the building up for its original purpose of a large multi-function building, in the centre of town, catering for a variety of religious and secular uses, and acting as a temperate meeting place in the centre of the town.
The church opened its doors to the community through the provision of family and youth friendly activities as listed below:
Sunday service Meeting for worship and Christian fellowship, work in the community, pastoral support and provision for weddings, baptisms and funerals Youth Zone.
Young students in years P7 to S4 are encouraged to drop in on Mondays between the hours of 4pm to 6pm to play games, chat and learn arts and crafts as well as discuss religion if they wish to. Men’s Zone
This is a gathering to allow men to socialise on Wednesday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm. Men come to play games (table tennis, dominoes, backgammon), chat and generally socialise over tea and coffee. An ad-hoc music group has been formed by some of the members who come in regularly. Bouncy Church
This is a family friendly church service, where children and their parents come every fourth Sunday of the month from 3pm to 5pm. The children play on the bouncy castle, learn crafts and engage with a Bible story.
Winter Connection
We provide facilities where people come in every Saturday from January to March from 12 to 2pm. People come to have free soup, sausage in a roll and tea and cake as well as chat and enjoy ad-hoc music from local musicians.
This year we hosted Paisley Opera with their performances of Faust and the Renfrewshire Council Food and Drink Festival. We have a new group of local writers, who meet once a month and we regularly act as a host venue for two AA groups and a CA group as well as other community groups.
