CLAS' aim is to advance the education of the public in the use of the Gaelic language by supporting the teaching and learning of Gaelic in Secondary Schools. In furtherance of its aim, the Association may: Provide and exchange information and support for Gaelic Teachers, establish and maintain links between Gaelic teachers and associate members, provide teachers with opportunities for meeting and networking. Act as a voice representing the views of Gaelic teachers, liaise with relevant professional bodies, language development agencies and the media, provide and exchange information with teachers’ organisations and teachers of other minority languages nationally and inter-nationally, raise the profile of Gaelic within schools and with parents, liaise with teachers in the Primary sector, encourage and support extra-curricular and cultural activities through the medium of Gaelic, undertake any other tasks which will assist in fulfilling the Association’s aim.
Objectives: To advance the education of the public in the use of the Gaelic language by supporting the teaching and learning of Gaelic in Secondary Schools.
