Alms and Affiliatlon The Freè Church of Stotland turrently has around 100 congregations in Scotland, as well as in London and North America, and slster Churches fokjnded by mission work In India, Peru and South Africa. The Church also has a full time college in the heart of EdinbLJrgh for the training of M inisters and other Christian workers a nd svstains an extensive Missionary programme relative to the size of the church. Datlng from 1843 but with Its roots In the Reformation, it owes its distlnctive title to Its historical struggle to rem3in 'free' from state interference in it5 internal affairs. It has close and active relations with many other Reformed churche5 of jesus Christ throughoiut the world and stand5 firmly in the tradition which accepts the Bible in its entirety as the Word of God and, therefore, derives its forms of teachingi worship, ministry and government from it. The main empha515 gf our worship is the preaching of the gospel the good new5 of a free and sovereign salvation through jesus Christ alone. Klrkcaldy Free Church of Scotland is 3 congrègation ol the national Free Church of Scotland working towards the common aim5 set out above. It is a Presbyteriar) church adhering in its worship and doctrine to the p051tion of the Church of Scotland at the Reformation. The Free Church ol Scotland has an explanatory document which explains the origins of the Church and which gives the historical background to the chuTch coming into being in 1843 and lists documents in which is embodied the constitution of the Church. Thè congregation is authorised by the Church to have a minister paid from centr31 funds of the Church. The Church building and the Minister's manse are the property of the congregation and are held under the Church'5 model trust deed. The goveinment of the Free Church of Scotland is Presbyterian and the congregation 15 wlthin the Presbytery of Edinburgh & Perth. rrustees and Office Bearers The church 15 Presbyrerlan In government and Its day to day running is undertaken by the Elders (the Klrk Session) and the Deacons (the Deacons, Courtl. The Deacons. Court's specific function relates to the material and financial bu5ine55 of the congreÉètion, whereas Elders are charged with the general and spiritual oversight of the congregation. It Is accepted practice for the Minister and Elders to also be in membership ol the Deacons, Court. Under tharity law the Deacons, Court are deemed to be the Trustee5 of the Congregation. (This is distinct from the role of congregational tru51ees responsible only for holding property in trust). Any election pro¢e55 must involve the communicant membership of the congregation. There is no fixed term for Trusteeship. Prior to their appointment, new Tru51ees would have served the church for some tlme in varlou5 rolps and would be famlliar with the church's values, its aims and objectives as well as its day-to-day operations. As part of their induction programme. new Trustees are required to undèrstand their statutory re5pon5ibilities as well a5 their responsibility as elder or deacon. Achlevements and Performance The congregation continufd its commitment to support the national Free Church ol Scotland both spiritually and linanciallv. Signilic3nt highlights, events and developments of note in the year include the following: We are delighted that￿ vlas ordained as an elder in Kirkcaldy Free Church on Sunday the 14, of JUW 2024 and now joins the se55I0n. In rclatioi) lo coi)gregatii)nal activities-. The church continues to actively Support a new church plant in Leven (Leven Free Church) through finance, prayers and by encoLJraging church members in that locality to move church in order to support this new venture. Our vision statement continues to be promoted through thematic sermons and through short video messages. The church has been encouraging members to engage in evangelism throuÈh church-based events, such a5 our community meals with a guest speaker and a guest service at Chrlslma5. The church continues to meet weekly to pray, alternating berween in-person meetings and online meetings. We have used our website and facebook pagÈ to promote the work of the church, record services, share prayer requests, and to learn new tune5 for Dur praise. The church family persi5t5 in usin8 their gilts in order tts support one another, the local community and those further afield. Our fortnightly community café continues to reduce isolation and promote community in the local area. As well as contlnuing to support the church plant In Leven, we have also supported our own children by helpin£ with their fees for Free Church sumrner camps. We have supported other Scottish charities through one-off collections, The Blythswood shoebox appe31 was highly succossful, with ovcr 40 boxes collected. We continue to collect for the local food bank. The church continues to enjoy church lunches in order to develop c5oser relationship5 Wlthin our church commtsnity. We have also done this through women's meals and a men's barbecue. In September, we had our first church concert, with music from those within the church and also from the Songburds, a local community choir. Our rminister has become a padre at the local branch of the air cadets which involves visiting the cadets on a monthly basis. Donation5 from church metnber5 via weekly offering5, monthly standing order5 and Gift Aid tax reclalm,. The Church was able to support several children financially to help with the costs of sending their children to Free Church c2mps and Teen Ranch,. and The church continued to financially support church plants, including Leven Free Church. Restsltsfor the yetJr The fin3ncial accounts for the year are set out on page$ 7 to 10. Thè receipts and payments account Ipage 71 reflccts net incoming resources of £33,76012023: net incoming re50urcc of 123,6181. Reserves 11 is the policy of the congregation to maintain unrestricted funds, i.e. funds not committed or invested in fixed assets, al a level which equates to approximately three mDnths unrestricted expenditure. This allows sufficient funds to enable the ongoinE work of the church to be maintained. The General Fund at 31 Decpmber 2024 amounted to £32,23312023: £30,449) and was above the. rpquired level. Total reserves. including balances on restricted funds amounted to E112,94312023.. £79,183). Grant Making Policy The congregation makes grants from its gift income to individuals and organisations whose aims are cornpatible with the congregation's objectives. Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner The charitV'S trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment Iscotlandl Act 2005 and the charities Accounts (Scotlandl Regulations 21X)6. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10111 Idl of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to èxamine the accounts as reqLtirÈd under sertion 4411) Icl of the Act and to State whether particular matters have come to my attention. Money was transferred from this fund to support the ongoing work of Leven Free Church. Building Fund- represents funds recelved in relalion to buildin@ work at the 51te of the Kirkcaldy Free Church. Cump3 Ftsnd- represents funds received in relation to supporting children of the congregation attend Free Church of Scotland camps. 4.
