To promote the Genus Rhododendron with education, instruction and practical guidance. This comprises of meetings, conferences and practical horticultural events. Databases are kept regarding important collections of species rhododendrons in Scotland. These include large estates down to small gardens.

Objectives: The purpose of the Group is to support and encourage the conservation of all Rhododendrons species, by establishing collections of plants, held in Sub-section Groups, in specific gardens where the climatic and soil conditions are suitable for a particular Sub-section, and that this be an ever-expanding collection and encompass all recognised sub-divisions and known 'forms'.
