## Charitable Purposes and Objectives

The purposes of the SCIO are to “encourage, inspire and support women of all ages in Scotland develop their experience, knowledge and understanding of Christianity”.

- c. To provide an outlet for women to discover and develop their God-given gifts and potential;

- d. To provide a forum for women to meet together for Christian fellowship, encouragement and support.

## Review of Year

The Board commenced discussions with a possible venue to begin costing a future event. The Trustees identified the need for fresh vision and began exploring the recruitment of new Trustees. Some progress was made in these efforts, however the Trustees concurrently observed an increase in similar events emerging across Scotland and were prompted to reconsider whether there was still a demand for the style, form and size of event which we had previously delivered. The ongoing cost of living crisis, considered alongside the quote

received from our potential venue, led to concerns regarding the financial viability of an event in the form previously hosted. No event was hosted during the year June 2023 to May 2024 and the Trustees began serious consideration as to the possibility of Winding Up the SCIO.

## Reserves

The trustees have not adopted a policy to guide the level of reserves. Reserves held at 31 May 2024 were 35115.07 (31 May 2023: £5331.97). As the accounts are prepared ona receipts and payments basis, not all expenses relating to the relevant accounting period are necessarily reflected in these accounts. The Trustees aim to break even year on year when all expenses relating to the running of a conference are taken into account.

## Accounts

The Accounts for the year ended 31 May 2024 are attached and form part of this report.
