The Ch8rty is registered on OSCR as SCIO wtth effectfrom 14th March 2017. When the present Trustees stand down, it is anticipated that training for new Board members willtake place duringthe year. ecti ndA Agreementto amend thecharty. s name and purposeswas obtainedfrom OSCRin 2017 and since then we have been operating as an educational charity retaining the same number(SC0375511. TheTrustees agreed to a change ofpurposes ofthe Inverness Polish Association SCIO byremovingclauses4.3and4.4fromthe old constitution. In June 2017 there was unanimous agreement to change the Charty" s name and purposes to that of a school-focussed Charity. Our main focus is centred on the advancement ofeducation of children from Poland and other ethnic minority cultures who are attending the Saturday School, studying mainly Polish. History, English and environmental studies while preserving and developing the culture and heritage of Poland. The Memorandum of Undèrstandingbetween the Polish Saturdayschool and our main funder Additional Support Needs of Highland Council was agreed upon in December 2017. Unfortunately. due to internal re-organisation in the Care and Learning Department of Highland Council we will not receive any more financial supportforthe S8turdaySchool. Since April 2022, the school has been operating from a new location at the Culloden-Balloch Baptist Church, situated atwellside Road, Balloch. Inverness, IV2 7GS. This move was necessitated to accommodate our growing need8 and to continue providing a conducive learning environment for our students. The new premises offer improved facilities and more space. allowing us to expand our educational and cultural programs. This relocation reflects our commitment to enhancingthe educational experience forthe Polish community in Inverness and the surrounding areas. The number of children attending each opening varies between 82 and 96 of 8 total of 96 enrolled children in 2023. Our schoolterm began in September 2023 and ended in June 2024. Amidstthe challenges presented bythe Coronavirus pandemic, our schoolf8ced the difficult reaitty of not being able to observe several traditional Polish events, including honouring our commitment to the Remembrance D8y at the Invergordon Memorial. our much-anticipated Christm8s Dinner, the Carnrval Party. and other significant cultural gatherings. Despite these setbacks, we are now pleased to announce a heartening return to our customary celebrations and observances. We have been able to resume our active participation in and organization of these cherished traditions. This includes laying wreaths and Paying homage to the fallen soldiers ofworld War11 at the Invergordon M8morial. hosting our Christmas Dinnerforstudents and theirfamilies. celebratingwith our Carnival Paty, commemorating Polish Diaspora Day. and more. This revival ofour tradition81 events h8s been a significant step in reconnecting our community, fosteringa sense of unity, and rekindlingour cultur81 heritage here in Inverness. We are grateful for the continued support and involvement of the parents, volunteers and the positive support of the local authority and the Polish Consulate-General in Edinburgh. No audit is required as theAccounts have been independently examined. Mem The Polish Saturday School has an active membership and at the end of the previous year s accounting period there were 18 paid up members ofthe SCIO. Onlypaid-up members are eli￿blet0v0te at meetings. Annualsubscriptions are £10.the first subscription period being up to 31st July 2020. Thereafter the agreed rate is p8y8ble from 1"August-31 Julyofthe followingyeaf. In light of the ongoing financial challenges faced by many. compounded by the unprecedented global pandemic and the current high cost of living 8nd inflation rates, we have made a significant decision regarding our membership policy. Understanding the difficulties that our members and their families have endured, especially during the lockdown period. we aretemporarilysuspendingthe collection of membershipfees. This decision reflects our commitment to supporting the Polish community in these trying times. Therefore. for the foreseeable future. we will not be requiring any membership fees. allowing all existing members to participate and vote at meetings without the financial burden of an annu81 subscription. Our aim is to ensurethatour school remains accessible and inclusive, providinga supportive environmentfor all members duringthis period of economic uncertainty. We gratefully acknowledge financial support from the Consulate General, which permits us to buy books and make extemal exam payments if needed and make payments forthe school let. We are also pleased to acknowledge the funding received from the National Lottery, which contributed towardsthe pgrtialcost of hiringthevenue forour school activities. There is no external person with Trustee appointment rights. Trustees are appointed throughout the year. There is no affi118tion to other charities or bodies, and the administration of the Saturday School is devolved to committee members. In common with other charities, we seek to retain a small reserve. However, most of our grants are restricted and designed fora specific purpose. The receipts and payments are carefully monitored. With the loss of the Addition81 Support Needs grant, the funds will require very careful management particularly because of the increased expenses of renting. Mostof the chlldren attendingthe Polish S8turdaySchoolpayfortheirtuition and parents re8dily give up theirtime to help asvolunteers in iargerclasses. Donetionsfrorn the Consulate- General help us to continueto make progress in ouraim of educating and supporting Polish migrant children. A number of parents, members and trustees help to organise and run the School. We estimate that appro￿rnatelY 1,500 hours peryearare donated to school. which if paid at £10.00 per hourwould cost the Polish S8turd8ySchool SCIO in excess of£15,000.
