Urras Thiriodh, or Tiree Community Development Trust, is a charitable organisation set up to work towards long-term sustainable community development goals. We do our best to address vital service needs and to improve the lives of the people who live here. We are community-led and run by an elected board of Tiree permanent residents.

Objectives: The Company’s main Purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The Company’s Purposes are: 4.1.1 To provide, or assist in providing, recreational facilities, and/or organising recreational activities within the Community which will be available to members of the Community and the public in general with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 4.1.2 To advance education about the Community and its environment, culture, heritage and/or history. 4.1.3 To advance protection or improvement of the Community through the preservation and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the Community, the provision of other environmental and regeneration projects and/or the preservation and conservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the Community. 4.1.4 To promote for the public benefit rural regeneration within the Community by all or any of the following means:- (a) the relief of poverty in such ways as may be thought fit. (b) the relief of unemployment in such ways as may be thought fit. (c) the creation of training and employment opportunities. (d) the alleviation of demand for affordable housing within the community. (e) the maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities. and (f) the provision of public health facilities and childcare.
