**Purposes:** &#x27;the advancement of education&#x27;,&#x27;the advancement of health&#x27;,&#x27;the advancement of citizenship or community development&#x27;,&#x27;the advancement of public participation in sport&#x27;,&#x27;the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended&#x27;

**What the charity does:** The purpose of the Simpson Institute is to provide services which enable the advancement of health, citizenship and community development and the advancement of participation in sport and recreational activities. Examples of the main activities undertaken at the Institute are: Camera Club, Dance Groups, Keep fit classes, Bowling Club, Horticultural Society. Also, the Institute is used for a wide range of other activities such as birthday parties, wedding receptions music classes, coffee mornings, film nights, quiz nights and musical events. It is also used as a polling station for local and general elections and hosts the Warm Spaces initiative.

**Objectives:** Whereas (one) by Deed of Conveyance granted by the Trustees of Mrs Janet Simpson or Galloway in favour of the Reverend James R Burt and Others as Trustees therein mentioned dated Twenty eighth August and recorded in the Division of the General Register of Sasines applicable to the County of Fife as also in the Books of Council and Session on the Fifth day of October, both in the year Eighteen hundred and ninety one, we as Trustees have right to the subjects therein described which comprise a Hall for Upper Largo, and (two) it is right and proper that we should declare purposes for which we hold the said subjects therefore we hereby declare as follows, videlicet:-  The said subjects and the building erected or to be erected thereon (hereinafter referred to as &#x27;The Trust subjects&#x27;) are dedicated and shall be held by us and our successors as Trustees in all time coming for the purpose of physical and mental training and recreation, and social, moral and intellectual development through the medium of reading and recreation rooms, library, lectures, classes, recreation or otherwise as may be found expedient of the inhabitants of Upper Largo in the County of Fife and its immediate vicinity, without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions subject to the provisions of these presents.
