## **– Activities and Achievements August 2023 July 2024**

Dunfermline Junior Chorus continues to thrive and to go from strength to strength. We continue to have around 100 choristers rehearsing weekly in school terms. This coming season we celebrate our twentieth anniversary and we will plan special events to celebrate this.

The Senior and Junior Choirs sang very well at The Lord Lieutenant’s Christmas Carol service in Dunfermline Abbey in December 2023. They produced a very professional performance.

We received a grant from the Garfield Weston Trust, which was the second of two payments we were awarded last year. This was for general running expenses and was a very welcome boost to our funds.

We also received a payment from the Co-op Community Fund which was used partly to fund singing workshops run in local primary schools.

The Baillie Gifford Philanthropy Committee, thanks to a nomination by the parent of a chorister, gave us £1,000 plus a lot of free printing and this was used to good effect to produce high quality prints of leaflets, concert programmes and other literature.

The Allister Trust, a local charity, gave us £600. Friends of Dunfermline Junior chorus donated a total of over £1,400 and we thank many Choral members who are Friends and give generously. We claimed Gift Aid of well over £3,000 and the Christmas raffle was, as always, very well supported by Friends and Family.

The Fife Ukulele Orchestra have committed to supporting us and made a generous donation to our funds.

As a result of our successful fundraising we are able to maintain our fees to choristers at the same level as last year, in spite of increasing costs. This is important to us as we know that some parents struggle. Using grants and gifts we have set up a small fund to help parents with fees when they have difficulties.

We had our usual three concerts which were very well attended. It is good to see so many Choral members coming along to our concerts. The children enjoyed their annual Pizza Party which was held in June, indoors because of the weather.

Our website is constantly updated and is now our main means of registering choristers. We have a presence on Facebook and fF runs a private Facebook site for parents and carers, which is used for communication.

> Our thanks, as always, go to Fl as Artistic Director, who conducts the Chorus. She is indefatigable in working with the children, who love her. She inspires them in every way, and presents concerts in which the children perform magnificently. Also to our Associate Conductor Fe , who rehearses the Wee Music Makers and Music Makers. These little ones develop

their musical skills under her direction, and perform with the older choirs at Con￿rtS. ￿ also

Thanks also to our Management Committee. all members of which participate fully in the running
ofthe Chorus. and who help out at concerts and other events. The Committee remains unchanged
for the coming year.

The policy for reserves is to hold SLrfticient in the bank account to meet normal anticipated
