Objectives and activities
The objects of the charity are:
to advan￿ the Christian faith by supporting and promoting the charitable
work of World Shine Ministries in Uganda.
To facilitate visits between Uganda and the UK.
To identify opportunities for short-term and longer-tenn volUnt￿rS to serve
with World Shine Ministries in Uganda and elsewhere.
To oversee the distribution of funds raised in support of the work of World
Shine Ministries in Uganda and elsewhere.
To work in partnership with other evangelical Christian organisations in
raising awareness of the spiritual and material needs of people in Africa.
The main activities of the charity are the regular monthly remittance of funds to the
World Shine Ministries Offi￿ in Kampala to pay for the education of sponsored
children in the World Shine Foundation Nursery and Primary School in Rwentobo,
South West Uganda, young people attending other secondary and vocational
schools in the same area, and a small number of students in colleges and
universities mostly in Kampala.
Children's letters and school reports are sent to their sponsors three times a year
as they are r￿1Ved from Uganda. The trustees also host and arrange speaking
engagements for World Shine Ministries, personnel when they visit the UK to
preach and update supporters on the progress of the work.
Structure, governance and management
Type of governing document
The charity is unincorporated and is govemed by a Deed of Trust.
Trustee recruitment and appointment
Trustees are recruited by invrting supportive individuals, groups and churches to
nominate suitable people. Vacancies are advertised by word of mouth, on the
World Shine UK website, at the Conferen￿ and the AGM. Trust&s are appointed
by a fully constituted trustees, meeting once a signed declaration has been
received. No other organisation can appoint trustees.

Achievements and performance
About 100 children were supported in education, most of whom attended World
Shine Foundation Nursery and Primary School with 22 attending a variety of
secondary and vocational schools in the area.
Approximately 16 students were supported in Universty and further education.
Several young people, mostly graduates, were supported to work as intems and
volunteers with World Shine Ministries in Kampala and Rwentobo.
A clinic built next to Ihe World Shine School campus celebrated its first
anniversary in May 2020. The clinic offers general adult and child outpatient
services, in-patient services, ante-natal care, family planning and laboratory
sep41￿S. It is hoped that immunisation, post-natal care and child and young
person ServI￿S may also be provided in the near future. By agreement, the clinic
which was funded by Mission Rwentobo based in Tonbridge UK is managed and
operated by the Church of Uganda Kisiizi Hospital. The agreement has also
given the community in Rwentobo a￿sS to Kisiizi Hospital's pioneering medical
Insuran￿ scheme which has been well re￿iVed locally. All sponsored students
have been enrolled on the scheme. A secure, designated part of the clinic
building is used as the sickbay for children attending World Shine School. Our
partners, Mission Rwentobo continue to fund equipment, staff and other ongoing
costs. In May 2020, World Shine UK sent £1.750 to Kisiizi Hospital for pandemic
relief.
Because of measures taken by the Government of Uganda in response to the
pandemic, the school was closed from March 2020 until October 2020 when the
Primary 7 pupils and those in Secondary 3 and 5 were allowed to return to
prepare for and srt exams. Another group returned on 1 March 2021.
Sponsorship payments for primary children continued to be remitted to Uganda
throughout the year so that school staff coukl be paid and hardship avoided for
children and their families. Supporters responded to an appeal to provide relief for
families adversely affected by the lockdown. In May 2020 £1,750 sent to World
Shine Ministries was used to provide food parcels to 78 needy families in the
Rwentobo area. Smaller donations for pandemic relief were sent periodically
during the year.
Clarifying financial accountability and governan￿ issues in Uganda has been a
priority for the trustees during this year. The trustees have sought to effect
improvements in the clarity and consistency of financial reporting from the school
at Rwentobo. They have also sought to assist World Shine Ministries to
strengthen areas of governan￿ and financial accountsbility that have been
causing concern. Unfortunately, the response from the Board of World Shine
Ministries has fallen short of the trustees, expectations. In the absence of the
information requested from Uganda, the UK trustees proposed that another

reputable, Christian organisation with a track record in education be identifEd
which would run the schwl in Rwentobo independently of World Shine Ministries.
This proposal was ￿leCted by Worfd Shine Ministnes. The UK trustees concluded
that they coukl no longer partner with World Shine Ministries and fulfil their
obligations as trustees. They, therefore. decided they will be tsking steps to wind
up the chanty as soon as possible.
Financial review
Statement of the charity's policy on reserves
The charity has no employees or propety and accordingly does nol s￿k to hold
more Ihan a nominal reserve.
Future plans
The trustees will be seeking approval from OSCR for World Shine Foundation
(World Shine UK) to cease operating as a charity. The trustees will communicate
to supporters, sponsors and other stskeholders their decision to tske appropriate
steps to dissolve the Trust.
