Activities

'It carries out activities or services itself'

'the advancement of education','the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science'

Lyra has a transformative impact on the lives of children and teenagers through engagement with a broad, rich programme of world-class performing arts. Based in the extraordinary community of Greater Craigmillar (Edinburgh) since 2012, Lyra runs Artspace, Scotland's first and only performing arts venue exclusively for children and teenagers. Lyra challenges the inequity of quality performing arts provision for children and teenagers, regardless of their ability to pay. We overcome socio-economic disadvantage by empowering children and teenagers to access their cultural rights, engaging them in the arts as co-curators and collaborators. Our aim is to reach every child and teenager in Greater Craigmillar, and our vision is that they will one day lead Lyra in the future.

Beneficiaries: 'Children or young people'

Objectives: To advance public education by the encouragement of the performing arts, including without limiting the foregoing, the arts of drama, ballet, dance, mime, music and opera.
