This year the Trust managed to move afong a few signfficant developments and start
to open debate on th8 future of the Village in tenns of placemaking
The most S￿nITICant of developments in tenns of w)vMJing resou￿5 for the
childrén, youro p8opI8 and adventurous adLAts is push towaTds estsblishy
pump track and small re¢xeat*)n a￿a with new football nets and basketball hoop.
Consullation efforts ￿re consolKlated by setting up a small track and extending
taster session and communrty involvement in decKling rAacement of the track.
Planning permission was tP*n sought and g￿r￿d with the backing of the Communty
cou￿11.
FurKling is now fully in place. Sports S¢ottaTrJ arKI S8C are fvnding the build.
Agreement wtth SBC is in motion. Try wll take over the build and ongoing
fflanagement of the track.
A lot of effort particularty from gain planning and negotiate with
SBC has made this possible It k)oks that ground w￿1 be iyoken in Sw'ng and our
kKl$ will have thi8 resource n8*< Summer.
A secmd notsble deVelOp￿nI is Ihe aCqUisrt￿n of 8 e-bbkes and nota￿ a
tsndem bike to help disabled kids and older people to enjoy cyding.
We have set up an agreement vfiih local ￿SinesS at the car wash to run the ts'k
hire Wrth Aimee t￿[1dir￿j an Mline bwking system and lan managing all the detail
of the inventory arKI logistics fcr tracking the bikes seem to be in business. Going
forward
will be supporting • on the hire so that als runs smoothly.
We hope to be covering costs next year with some tourist hire makiTrJ this a
sustainable venture.
We are very dose to having murals from the Walkert￿M Mill dress the extèrior
of the Walkerbum Public Hall. This will draw to a close a few years work by lan
hasing artists and working dos8ly wrth printers and the Hall to make good use of
the fantastic h￿0￿Cal imagery of the Mills.
The Trust continue to work ￿1th the Fkmerbed group and the alk)tments to keep
Walkerburn pretty arKI growing.
A Place Making event was held seeking the communrtys opinions and Kleas for
developing WalkeTbum in lernis of settiro up a placemaking plan and making
