Constitution
The charity is constituted as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the charity number SC036183 and is governed by its constitution
Trustee Appointment
The Trustees are elected by the membership at the AGM. In addition, the Board may at any time appoint any member to be a Trustee. In selecting new board members, the Trustees seek to identify people who regularly attend events and functions organised by the charity and are willing to volunteer to help our broader community work. Potential Trustees are invited to attend meetings as observers and are given more details of the charity's aims and activities and, if all agree, they are then proposed
as new Trustees at the subsequent meeting. This process allows due consideration of the person's eligibility, competence, specialist knowledge and skills.

Summary of the main activities in relation to these objects
The Dhammapadipa Temple has continued to build on its success and growing popularity, remaining firmly committed to providing high-quality Thai Buddhist support, wellbeing services, and spiritual guidance to all who engage with us. We are proud to serve a diverse and inclusive community, ensuring that our temple remains a welcoming and supportive space for all.
This year marked a significant milestone for the Temple as we celebrated our 20th Anniversary. We were honoured to welcome His Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand to the United Kingdom and his wife, alongside the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Members of Parliament, local councillors, and many members of the community we serve. We were also deeply grateful to receive letters of support from His Majesty King Charles III and the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Keir Starmer MP, which added great significance to this landmark celebration. Throughout the year, the Temple has remained busy and vibrant. We

welcomed visits from community groups, schools, and scouting organisations who came to learn about Buddhism and to participate in guided meditation sessions.
Our Thai and wider Buddhist community continue to visit regularly for prayers, merit-making, and blessings. In addition, our monks have provided outreach support by visiting local businesses and the homes of community members to offer blessings and pastoral care when required. Wellbeing Project Our Wellbeing Project continues to flourish and operates on two strands.
Firstly, we provide not-for-profit, low-cost yoga classes for our local and Thai communities, led by our expert yoga instructor, Secondly, our monks deliver guided meditation classes, supported by two lay meditation masters, offering meaningful and enriching practice for participants. Since the project began, we have welcomed 5,024 attendances across yoga and meditation sessions, with many participants returning regularly. This level of engagement has exceeded our expectations, and we extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved in making the project such a success.
Furthermore, we operate courses to our community to learn about the Dhamma teachings and also day-long retreats for guided meditation. These have been hugely popular and we will continue to offer this. Outside Space and Garden Improvements As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving our facilities, we undertook a significant project to the rear garden area of the Temple. A beautifully designed canopy structure has been installed, providing shelter and enhancing the usability of this long, previously limited space. This has greatly improved the visitor experience and the flexibility of our outdoor facilities. Hall Hire by Outside Groups.
We are pleased that the Temple has attracted interest from several local organisations seeking to hire our facilities. Following appropriate due diligence, we entered into agreements with two organisations that provide valuable support services to the local community, allowing them to use our main hall and garden room spaces. Income generated through both the Wellbeing Project and external hall hire has provided valuable additional donation streams, helping to offset the significant energy costs and cost of living rises experienced during the year. Sponsor Licence and Immigration Costs.

The UK Home Office has continued to increase fees associated with migrant worker visas and sponsor licence management. As a small charity, we are not exempt from these increases, and the cost of sponsoring monks has risen accordingly. We remain committed to managing our finances responsibly to ensure full legal compliance and to maintain the high standard of monastic support our community relies upon. We were particularly pleased that our Head Monk, Phramaha Prasert Prommala, was granted Indefinite Leave to Remain during the year. This provides welcome stability for him, the Temple, and the wider community.
Plans for 2026
Looking ahead, we will continue to uphold the high standards and professionalism that have supported our growth from humble beginnings. Key priorities for the coming year include improving our ground floor office and utility space to meet operational need and managing the planned transition of our two temporary-visa monks,RORenes27 ¢ ara erereraras whose visas expire early in the year. We will identify and sponsor suitable replacement monks to ensure continuity of support for our community. This will have a financial impact due to Home Office fees and associated travel costs. We also plan to deliver three major religious and cultural festivals, alongside several smaller temple-based events for our community to enjoy.
Financial Review
Total income for the year was £65,670 representing a solid year for donations. While community donations remains strong, income was lower than in previous years, reflecting the wider cost-of-living and energy crisis affecting households nationally. Total expenditure amounted to 66,710, in line with expectations. Our primary income sources continued to be community donations and associated Gift Aid claims. We were also grateful to receive a generous contribution from theees, along with donations through Easy fundraising and JustGiving. Our wellbeing project and hall hire income has also assisted with ensuring we have sufficient income to continue to support and offer service to our community Easy Fundraising and Just Giving online apps for which we are most grateful.
