Objectives and Activities
The purposes of the ¢harty are".
Provision of reCreat￿nal faCil￿.eS in the interest of weKare. supwt, assistance and
education for anyone living in Scouand. and in part￿ular but not exclustvely, Thai
people, their families and Buddhists to access and use our organisational faciif(ies as
required.
To advance rel￿10n through the provision of facilrties for religious worship,
observance and education for the ￿nefiCia[hes". and
To advance education and Thai cultural knovledge Ihrough structured and approved
syllabuses; and
To promote racial hanrthy, foster ¢uttural and rel￿￿uS tolerance and understanding
be￿een the beneficiarie5 and others and to work towards the elimination of prejudice
and discrimination against Ihe benefioaries, thereby enabling them to participate fully
in the xaal. economic and avic life of the o)mmunty'. and
To aid the people of Thailand during times of great need or nalural disasler when
called upon to do so by the Govemment or other charitable organisations with the
same aims
Summary of the main acttvities in relation to these objects
The Dhammapadipa Temple has enjoyed continued success after much groundwork was put
in the previous years lo renovate Ihe building. improve its online profile. ernbra￿ our local
communrty and ensure we give the besl Thai Buddhist support, wellbeing and spiritual
guidance possible to all who engage wrth us. Our visrtor fooffall and community engagement
numbers have been signfficanlty stronger over this last period and we are so proud of this and
we believe our communty is stronger as a result.
We have had a busy year wtlh communty groups, schwls and scouts coming along lo learn
about Buddhism and gUKled meditation. We continue to have regular visits from our Thai and
Buddhist community for Pfayers, giving merrt and blessings. Our monks have also been
visiting businesses and hoffEs of our Thai community to offer blessings and community
support lo them when needed.

Hall used by outside groups
We are delighted that our temple has attracted the attention from so many local groups, some
of which appioached us to Secure an agreement in pmople thal we allow them to use our
main hall and garden room Spa￿ for their Organi￿tI)n5. After due th.ligen￿ was carried out,
we now have two organisati￿5 who provide supwrt services lo Ihe Irxal community.

Sponsor licence and Immigration fees for our Temple
The UK Home orrice has conllnued to ncrease its fees for appty'Èng for wlyking visa3 for
migrarit workers and for managing a sponsor license. Unf¢Jlunalety. small charity
organisations like us are includgl in those fee increases tfErefcYe our m(Mks work visa
applicalion costs have irkcfeased too. We will eontinue to ensure our finances are managed
professionally so we are compknant in law to hold Ihe sponsor tscense and to ensure we have
sufficient funds lo maintain a consstent approach to resourcng good quality and hard working
'dates of monks who would like to stay at our temple and support our CC*mmunty.

Thi$ year. we said fareNell to Phramaha Pratran who stayed with us for 2 years. He was
hugety popular wilh our communty in his relaxed. humble and hard WOTking attrtude to his
efforts in 5UPPQrting our temple services. We give thanks to his ts'me and contributions to our
ommunrty and we wish him all the best for the future.
This year, we welcomed Phra Warakom and wethrned back Phramaha Akkapom. Both have
settled back into Edinburgh and supporting our Thai and I￿21 communty. We give thanks to
them for agreeing to move lo Edinburgh and for working so hard for our temple and our
communrty. Phramaha Prasert, our head monk. contsnues his stay under Tier 2 visa. His
enthusiasm to driving our temple and the supwrt for the ccrfnrnunity forward is exceptional.
We are so lucky to have such an inspirational leader and we gNe thanks to his conlinued
servv.
2025 Plans
We will ensure our standards and professionalism (y)ntinues as we have grown so well and
come so far since our humble beginnings. We have plans afoot to build a temporary struclure
canopy to the rear of the building whid) will offer shelier for storage, but also for comfort lo
our visitors who walk to the rear of the building. We will also renovate the storage l ulilily area
on the ground flooi lo ensure il is frt for purwtrse for our busy temple.
We will also provide three substantÉal religious and cultural festNals for our o)mmunty lo
enjoy, as well as several smaller events based in our lemple. It will be the temples 20,
anniversary in August 2025 and we sjan to celebrate with this with a special event that month.
Flnancial Revlew
We had an income of £64,493 which was In-kee￿n9 wrth a good year for donations. Our
expenditure was £59,311 which was ants"cipaled. Horr￿ Office fees and monks travel cost5
were highei than usual due lo sponsoring trNo new monks and one retuming lo Thailand
within the last year. The last two years visa costs will therefore level out over the comin9
year. Our main source of income was from communty donations alongside related Grft Aid
¢laims. We also re￿iVed a generous sum from the Royal Thai Embassy in London as well
as donations vra Easy Fundraising and Just Giving online apps for wh￿h we are most
grateful.
