The River Don Trust was set up in order to assist The River Don in achieving the objectives and aims of its Fishery Management Plan. Conservation and enhancement of the catchments environment and therefore of all the species within it is at the heart of our objectives. There are many diverse ways in which we can and do assist with the River Don management. Some of these, most recently worked on are as follows: The creation of a new website for our river. Photography and filming so as to educate the public in terms of some of the invasive plant species which are found within our catchment. Sampling of water from our river in order to establish its quality Fund raising towards a catchment wide project of restoration over our river and its tributaries, which if successful will result in the Trust taking on a full time employee to manage this project work throughout the catchment. Ecology, bio-diversity and flood control are just a few of the elements involved.
Objectives: The Objects for which the Company is established are: - (A) To advance for public benefit environmental protection and improvement by conserving and enhancing all species of freshwater fish and their environments primarily but not limited to the inland and coastal waters of the River Don (B) To advance the education of the public and any association, company, local authority, administrative or governmental agency or public body or representative body in: - (1) The understanding of aquatic ecosystems, including their fauna, flora and economic or social activity, and river catchment management.
