Charity Address
15 Wester Coates Terrace, Edinburgh EH12 SLR
The above charity is an unincorporated association. it has an adopted constitution, previously sent to, and accepted by, the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.
The Trustees are the members of the Committee appointed by the members of the Chorus at the Annual General Meeting.
The charity's aim is to provide a programme of informal education to the members and to provide entertainment in the form of barbershop singing to the general public.
The past year has seen the charity compete in the Convention of the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) in Harrogate. The chorus achieved its highest ever score, ranking 9°" in the UK. This made us the leading chorus in Division 2 and gained us promotion to Division 1.
In July we performed to audiences at St Mary’s Church in Haddington and in St Giles Cathedral ina “St Giles At Six” event.
During the Edinburgh Fringe, we put on 3 joint concerts with a Swedish Chorus, Falun Miner Chords, who were visiting Edinburgh as part of their 40" Anniversary celebrations. This including singing 2 songs jointly with our guests, one in Swedish and one in English.
In the latter part of the year, we performed at the Bridgend Farmhouse AGM, in Victoria Manor Care Home and at St Peter’s Church Christmas Party.
December was a particularly busy month. On two Saturday mornings we sang carols in the city centre, and we also performed in our main charity concert at St Cuthbert’s Church which included 2 joint songs with a group of ladies from Forth Valley Chorus. From these events we were able to donate £4,208 to Prostate Scotland.
Our membership reduced slightly over the year and we ended the year with 50 members (previous year 54).
The charity's main income this year has been subscription income and net proceeds from our Fringe Shows and we ended the year with a closing balance of £20,295.
7 the thetrustees did not receive remuneration.

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in * accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
.
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements;
-
e To keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and
-
e To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
have not been met, or
- To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. a |_ /
