Ourstory Scolland originated as an infonnal association in 2001, was
fornally constituted as an unincorporated association on 16 December
2002, follows a community development model with a peer-led approach,
has been a registered Scottish Charity (SC035729) since 6 July 2004, and
Scottish Charitsble Incorporated Organisation [SCIO] since 3 March
2015. Ourstory Scotland is govemed by a constitution, which states that
control of the activilies of the organisation rests with the Board, and that
the Board is responsible for monrtoring and controlling the financial
position of the O￿aniSation.
Trustee recruitment and appointment
The Board comprises Charity Trustees elected by the membership at the
Annual General Meeting, or subsequently appointed by the Board, in
accordance with the constitution. All Trustees retire from office at each
AGM, but are eligible for re-election or re-appointment.
Objectives and activities
Charitable purposes
The purposes of the charity as set out in the constitution are:
11 To promote the welfare and relieve the needs of the lesbian, gay.
bisexual and transgender ('LGBT") community, which is recognised as
community subject to social exclusion, marginalisation and disadvantage.
2) To develop the capacty and skills of the members of the LGBT
community in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help
meet. their needs and to participate more fully in society.

The charity's main activities include the collection, archiving and
presentation of stories of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
(LGBT) community in Scotland. Through written, oral and visual
storytelling, the charity contributes lo historical archives, education and
research, exhibitions, publication, public presentation and theatrical
perfomiance. During the year the charity conts.nued to archive materials for
national archive of LGBT lives (the Ourstory Scotland Collection in the
National Library of Scotland, and in the Scottish Life Archive at National
Museums Scotland), organised and facilitated storytelling and produced
materials for education and exhibition.
