The charity provides recreational facilities to help improve the conditions of life for the Torrance villagers, eg: - managing and improving Woodmill Park, eg, maintain plant containers and walking paths. plant new trees. supply picnic benches. display wooden sculptures from local artists. undertake regular repairs & maintenance. - enhancing the Fairy Trails within the park for the benefit of children, through adding new creative features and encouraging villagers to do likewise with their own designs - providing signs showing images and information on different species of local birds and trees - maintaining a bee & butterfly garden to provide a habitat for crucial pollinators, boosting local biodiversity and enhancing the health of plants - arranging regular work days to encourage volunteer participation in maintaining the park - renting out the football pitch to Torrance Football Club (TFC), providing a playing and training field for the village team and visiting clubs
Objectives: The objects of the Group shall be to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Torrance and its environs (See map Attached) without distinction of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating with, if necessary, the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities, or assist in the provision of facilities , in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of life may be improved. In furtherance thereof, the Group shall seek to use land (Woodmill Park) held in trust by the Group for the benefit of the community. Any proposed buildings thereon, or proposed change of use of any part of the land will require to be balloted and to be ratified at an AGM or SGM.
