Recruitment and appointment of Trustees
The trustees were reappointed at our annual general meeting which was held in August 2025.
Governing document
The charity is a charitable unincorporated association and the purposes and administration arrangements are set out in our constitution.
Charitable purposes
Our purposes as recorded in the constitution are:

to promote the Object of The Boys Brigade.

to develop, through a series of suitable programs of activities and instruction, the abilities of each boy in a progressive manner appropriate to his age and capabilities.

to encourage leadership qualities.
These purposes further the following charitable purposes:

the advancement of education

the advancement of religion

the advancement of citizenship or community development
-
the advancement of public participation in sport
-
the provision of recreational facilities, or the organization of recreational facilities
Activities and achievements
The charity continues to offer a wide range of activities for its members. We had around 19 boys attending across all sections in the course of session 2024-5 and 6 members of staff (all volunteers, some part-time).
We did not have any boys of Anchorboy age (P1-P3) during 2024-25, with the previous group having moved up to Junior Section. Our Junior section continued to offer a mix of games, crafts and teaching (including religious teaching), with occasional trips to external venues, for boys in P4P6. We ended the year with 8 Juniors, up from 4 the previous year.
Numbers in our Company section, which covers P7-S6, increased to 11 from 8 the prior year. The uniform standards were very good, and we provided a mix of classes, games, trips and Christian teaching. The company chaplain also attended most weeks and the boys engaged with him on complex issues.

Staffing remained a challenge, with some staff on part-time status due to family or work commitments, and some full-time members having unpredictable working patterns. We had just enough staff resource to run most weeks, with part-time staff filling gaps where required. The staff were assisted by two of the older Company section boys, who helped lead the Anchorboy and Junior sections as part of their community service for the Duke of Edinburgh award and the BB President's Badge and King’s Badge.
Our regular session ended with a parents' night at which the boys received the awards they had worked for during the year, with sketches and presentations to show the parents what the boys had been doing throughout the year. The previous company captain was our inspecting officer.
Due to constraints in the availability of both staff and event space, what had been our main fundraiser (an annual coffee morning) did not take place again in 2025.
We therefore ran a deficit in the year, increased from a smaller deficit in the prior year. This nevertheless remained sustainable due to us exercising good financial discipline and building up our cash reserves in prior years.
The charity intends to continue current activities for the foreseeable future.
Trustee remuneration and expenses
The trustees did not receive any remuneration or expenses in the year.
Reserves
The charity had a deficit in the current year of £525 (2024: deficit of £194). The Company had cash reserves of £785 at the end of the financial year.
