The object of the Society is to advance the education of the public in the study of art history as a branch of the wider study of the visual arts, and is doing so through events, conferences, the awarding of research grants and publication of an academic journal.
Beneficiaries: 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'
Objectives: To advance the education of the public in the study of art history as a branch of the wider study of the visual arts and in furtherance thereof the Society shall seek: (a) to provide a regular forum for the exchange of ideas and the discussion of topics of mutual interest. (b) to promote the study and understanding of the subject. (c) to express, from time to time, wherever appropriate, a collective view in matters that may seem to have a bearing on the study of the history of art in Scotland.
