Activities
'It carries out activities or services itself'
'the advancement of education','the advancement of citizenship or community development','the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended','the advancement of environmental protection or improvement','the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage'
Roots of Arran Community Woodland was formed in 2002 and volunteers have over the years planted up this large clear-fell site known as Fairy Glen or Lag a Bheith, with many young trees which include birch, rowan, beech, hazel, willow, oak, alder, blackthorn, Scots pine and even fruit trees in an enclosed orchard area. This is in order to regenerate the woodland for locals and visitors to enjoy and increase the island’s biodiversity. Volunteers meet once a month to remove invasive rhododendron, plant trees and maintain paths.
