Trustees Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 5 April 2025.

The Trustees have pleasure in enclosing their annual report and the accounts for the year to 5 April 2025.

Appointment of Trustees

The Trustees were appointed under the Deed of Trust dated 28 April 2004 and subsequent Deeds of Assumption and Conveyance.

Nature and purpose of funds

The Trust provides grants to be used for the provision of social and recreational facilities for Forces personnel or cadets in Scotland or Scots personnel or cadets elsewhere in the world.

Trustees' Responsibilities

The Trustees are solely responsible for the preparation of the Trust's accounts for the financial period which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Trust, and of the surplus or deficit for the period. In preparing the accounts, the Trustees are responsible for ensuring that suitable accounting policies have been used and applied consistently, and reasonable and prudent judgements and estimates have been made. The Trustees are also responsible for maintaining adequate accounting records for safeguarding the assets of the Trust and for taking reasonable steps to ensure the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Activities and Achievements

The Trust continues to make donations in accordance with and in furtherance of its charitable purposes.

As the Trust is predominantly a grant giving charity and has no material ongoing commitments Covid 19 has not materially affected the Trust’s operations as yet. However the Trustees are mindful both of the potentially increased needs of many traditional beneficiaries and the potential decrease in future investment income and will manage the Trust’s affairs in a manner that will ensure the Trust’s ability to achieve its charitable objectives in the medium to long term can be met.

Trustees remuneration and expenses

The Trustees did not receive any remuneration or expenses during the year.

Reserves

The results are shown in the attached Receipts and Payments Account for the year to 5 April 2025. The advice of Barclays Wealth Management has been taken throughout the year on investments. There was a deficit of £1,019.14 (2024- surplus £1,763.59) for the year. The total funds of the Trust are held as unrestricted.

Report of the Independent Examiner to the Trustees

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 5 April 2025 which are set out on pages 5 to 7.

Respective responsibilities of the Trustees and Examiner

The Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The Trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of Independent Examiner’s Statement

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Trust and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

Independent Examiner’s Statement

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

  1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements

  2. to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44 (1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the

  3. 2006 Accounts Regulations, and

  4. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006

  5. Accounts Regulations (as amended)

have not been met, or

  1. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
