QCCF’s main activity focuses on fundraising support for community projects, voluntary organisations and individuals in the Queens Cross area of Glasgow, working to provide services for those who are disadvantaged and have particular needs. The Foundation provides grants to support community projects, voluntary organisations and individuals. It is run by local people working to address poverty, inequality of opportunity, disability, disadvantage and discrimination. How we do this: We operate 3 separate Grant Schemes: • Community Chest: small grants of up to the value of £150 that help young people access extra-curricular and personal development opportunities. • Small grants: grants for people of any age or for groups or organisations. Our small grants can meet individual needs or provide financial support for projects that will benefit local people. • John Gray Bursary Scheme: financial support for local people entering training, higher or further education.
Objectives: The organisation's purposes are: to relieve those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage in order to help enhance and sustain their wellbeing and promote healthy life choices. to advance education by supporting access to cultural, educational and development opportunities that can contribute to improved life chances for individuals and groups, and a more vibrant community for all. to prevent or relieve of poverty by supporting practical projects and proposed solutions within the geographical area being that area: bounded to the south by Great Western Road linking with New City Road and Cowcaddens Road. to the east by North Hanover Street, Dobbie’s Loan, Craighall Road, Saracen Street and Balmore Road. to the north and west by Bisland Drive, Queen Margaret Drive and Hotspur Street. to the west by Garrioch Road. to the south by Garriochmill Road to Queen Margaret Drive and to the west again by Queen Margaret Drive to Great Western Road, all Glasgow (such geographical area being hereinafter referred to as the 'Community') and work towards an inclusive society. and to advance community development by working in partnership to identify and distribute the resources needed to address disadvantage and discrimination. always seeking to build community capacity and treating people with dignity and respect
