Objectives: To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Ancrum and District without distinction of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities, or assist in the provision of facilities, in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their condition of life may be improved. In furtherance of the above objects but not otherwise the Company shall have power:- (1) To lease or otherwise acquire the rights to occupy the Ancrum Public Hall, Ancrum and manage the said Hall. (2) To manage the premises and facilities of said Hall for the benefit of residents of Roxburghshire and elsewhere without distinction as to age, sex, ethnic origin, nationality or political, religious or other opinins. (3) To promote, regulate and facilitate the use of said Hall in ways conducive to the advancement of education, health, social welfare, recreation, leisure activities and like purposes. (4) To foster and encourage the association, participation and co-operation of the local community, voluntary organisations, the relevant local authority and other relevant bodies and associations in promoting and facilitating the use of said Hall as aforesaid. (5) To maintain and keep in good order and repair the furnishings, plenishings and equipment of said Hall and, where appropriate and within the resources available to the company, to upgrade, extend, alter and improve the Hall. (6) To acquire and take over the whole or any part of the undertaking and liabilities of any person entitled to any property or rights suitable for any of the objects of the company.
