Bathgate Band 31 December 2025 Structure, Governance and management Constitutlon Bathgate Band is a registered Scottish charty. It was registered in its current legal form on 8 October 2003. It has a single tier structure and, as such. the trustees are the members of the charity. During the year ended 31st DeMtser 2025, Bathgate Band converted to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) (SC054432). In December 2025, the band began the process of transferring assets and operations to the new charitable organisation. Appointment of Trustses The trustees are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and hold the roles of President. Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, togetherwith any additional office bearers considered neSsary. The committee comprises the trustees (President, vI-PreSIdent, Secretary and Treasurer) along with eight additional members elected at the AGM. Objectives and Activitie8 Charitable purposes The main purpose is to promote and foster the appreciation of music and the playing of brass instruments for the benefit of the community, as well as the individual, through social and formal engagements, and to develop the public appreciation of the art of brass band playing. Activities The band is currently a Championship Section brass band and meets twice a week for rehearsals. These are mostly directed by the Musical Director C Anderson. It's often the main focal point for community events in Bathgate and the surrounding area and regularly takes part in events such as concerts, gala days, Christmas parades, fundraising events and the Armisti Day paradelservices. Glasgow University StLtdent Union May 17th & 18th April- Russell Gray Conductors Workshop weekend, which concluded with a COnrt at Bathgate Partnership Centre June 6th & 7th Bathgate Procession events June 14th East Calder Gala Day was sadly rained off June 25th Brass at Beamish, Living Museum of the North, Beamish June 171h Linlithgow Marches June 21$t Linlithgow & Linlithgow Bridge Childrens Gala September 27th Fife Charities Contest, Kirkcaldy October 318t Joint Concert with Broxburn Sings, Broxburn November 9th Remembrance parade and servi. Bathgate November 30th East Calder Torchlight Procession Dember 6th Carols at Tesco, Bathgate December 6th Christmas switch on Bathgate Town Centre, with Kirkton Brass and Bathgate Together December Ph Carols at The Range, Falkirk December 8th Brodies Christmas Memorial Service, Amiadale Parish Church December 10th Over 50's Choir concert, Whitburn December 13th Carols at M&S, Livingston December 215t Carols at Designer Outlet, Livingston & Morrisons, Bathgate Dernber 22nd Christmas Concert, St Marys, Bathgate In addition to the above engagementslperfomiances a number of the senior band assisted our Youth Band in their many events throughout the year in care homes and supermarkets 2025 Achievements.. On the contest stage, the band were placed 9th in the Championship section of the Scottish Championships in March June saw the band compete at Brass at 8eamish where the band were placed 1st, and we followed this with a 2nd place at the Fife Charities Brass Band Association contest in September. Our Christmas cOnrt at St. Mary's RC Church in Bathgate attracted an audience of over 300. This year, we were delighted to welcome a Marimba Soloist (S Meikle) as our special guest. alongside a fantastic perfomiance from our own youth band. The year was rounded off with a social event at the Glenmavis Tavern. Page 3
Bathgate Band 31 December 2025 Achievements and Perforniance continued.... The main non-playing fundraisers this year were fantssy football, folk band event, quiz nights and virtual balloon ras. When the World Rankings were updated on 31$1 Dember 2025, Bathgate Band were 65th (9th in Scotland) Page 4
Bathgate Band 31 December 2025 Financial review The Band started 2025 with £44,366 in the Bank account. Bathgate band raised funds of£4,113 (restricted} and £28,943 (unrestricted), ofwhich we spent £1,838 (restricted) and £24,945 (unrestricted), leaving a balance of £50,639 at the year end. As part of the change over from SC035364 to SCIO SC054432, £10,656 was transferred to the new bank accounts on 1st December 2025 to enable the closing of the high interest account of SC035364 and the opening of similar for SC054432. The closure of the other accounts and transfer of assets will take pla in January 2026 Our main sources of income are from fundraising, grants and donations. Fundraising= We continued with the fundraising initiatives such as textile collections, virtual balloon races and Easyfundraising.com which alongside our now annual fantasy football league, raffles and scratch cards collectively raised £2,253. From concerts and collections when playing Christmas carols at The Range, Morrisons, Tesco, Marks & Spencer and McArthur Glen we raised a further £3,827 The band continues to run its bonus ball, which is currently fully subscribed and brings in a regular income. Grants.. During 2025, the band reiVed no grant funding. Donations.. In 2025, the band received a generous donation that helped support our youth developmentfund. This ensured that ouryoung musicians could attend NYBBS courses without facing financial barriers. We also secured financial support to assist with the expenses of the concert held in Glasgow with world renowned trumpet player Ryan Quigley. At the end of 2014, The Bathgate Band registered with HMRC as a charity for tax purposes in line with Paragraph 1 of Schedule 6 Financ£ Act 2010. and during 2025 we continued to claim back the basic rate Income tax that had been paid on rtain donations from individuals through their gift aid scheme. 8athgate Band 31 December2025 Reserves Policy £10.000 is held in reserve for the purposes of covering any expenses incurred in the eventualily that the Band should be wound up. Plans for future Dunng 2025. the band transitioned to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (scio} to support plans for a community asset transfer of a property in Bathgate. To assist with this. £26.630 Is currently held in an RBS savings account and has been set aside for this purpose. The band are preparing for several contests during 2026. The Scottish Championships (March). Fife Brass Band Festival (April). Beamish {Junel, Fife Charities Isepll and the Scottish Challenge INOV) Other events for 2026 include an awards ceremony and workshop (Feb). several civic events and concerts within West Lothian We will also host Russell Gray and his delegates for a conducting Workshop in May. which will be our 1 Oth year of hosling this event. Respoctlvo rosponsibilities of trusto08 and oxaminer The charity's trustees are reswnsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charity's and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts {Scotlandl Regulations 2006. The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10{1 } (d) of the 2006 Accounts Regulallons does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44{1) {c) of the Act and to state whether parttcular matters have come to rny attention. Ba815 of Independent examiner's statement My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and the comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees con¢eming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence Ihat would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not 8xpress an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. Independent examlner's statoment In the course of my examination. no matter has come to my attention 1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: to keep accounting records in accordance with Saction 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulalion 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met, or 2. to which, in my opinion, attentions should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
