It was registered in its current legal form on 8 October 2003. It has a single tier structure and, as such, the trustees are the members of the charity Appointment of Trustees The trustees are elected at the AGM and fulfil the roles of President. VI￿ President, Secretary and Treasurer. and such other Offi￿ bearers (if any) as they consider appropriate. The commtttee consists of a President, VI￿PresIdent. Secretary and Treasurer as the trustees as well as eight other elected members. Objectives and Activities Charitable purposes The main purpose is to promote and foster the appreciation of music and the playing of brass instruments for the benefit of the communrty, as well as the individual, through social and formal engagernents. and to develop the public appreciation of the art of brass band playing. Activities -e a week The band is currently a Championship Section brass band and meets twi" for rehearsals. These are mostly directed by the Musical Director It's often the main focal point for community events in Bathgate and the SLJ". rounding area and regularly takes part In events such as Con￿rtS. gala days, Christmas parades, fundraising events and the Armistice Day parade1servl￿s. Bathgate Hills September 28th Fife Charities Contest, Kirkcaldy October 4th Oktoberfest, Livingston Football Club October 26th Joint Concert with Linlithgow String Orchestra. St Marys, Bathgate December 19th _ Carols at McArthur Glen Designer Outlet De￿mber 22nd _ Carols Morrisons, Bathgate In addition to the above engagernents1performan￿s a number of the senior band assisted our Youth Band in their many events throughout the year in care homes and supemarkets The band also did some filming wrth BBC Scotland for their programme called 'My kind of town, which aired in September 2024 2024 Achievements: On the contest stsge, the band were placed 7th in the Championship section of the Scottish Championships in March April saw the band compete at the Fife Brass Band Festival (Open Entertainment Contest) where the band were placed 5th and we followed this with a 4th pla￿ at the Fife Charities Brass Band Association contest in September. The Scottish Open held at Perth cOn￿rt Hall in November saw the band pla￿d 16th Page 3 Bathgate 83nd 31 December 2024 amongst a field of some of the best bands from Scotland, Wales, England and also a band from the USA. Our Christmas cOn￿rt at St. Mary's RC Church in Bathgate attracted an audien￿ of over 300. This year, we were delighted to welcome the Boghall and Bathgate Pipe Band juniors as our special guests, alongside a fantastic perfomance from our own youth band. The year was rounded off with a social event at the Glenmavis Tavem. The main non-playing fundraisers this year were fantasy football, table-top escape room evening, quiz night and virtual balloon races. When the World Rankings were updated on 31 $1 December 2024, Bathgate Band were 62. (8th in Scotland) Page 4 Bathgate Band 31 December 2024 Financial review The Band started 2024 with £42,377 in the Bank account. We re￿iVed funds of £12,005 (restricted) and £29,098 (unrestricted), of which we spent £11,180 , Frfe Brass Band Festival (April), Beamish (June), Fife Charities (Sept) and the Scottish Open {Nov) Other events for 2025 include an awards ￿rernOnY arKI workshop (Feb). several civic events and con t Lothian and Glasgow. Basis of independent examiner's slatement My examination is carried out in accordance wtlh Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations An examination includes a review of Ihe accounting records kepi by the charity and the Comparison of the accounts presented wrth Ihose records. The trustees maintain a single unrestricted fund for the day-to-day running of the band. Restricted funds may only be used for specific purpo*s.
