APPENDIX 1

Other optional information

The charity trustees have applied to OSCR for consent to dissolve the charity and this consent has been granted.

In 2023, all the charity's funds were realised and transferred to the diocese (as shown in the 2023 accounts). Article 15 of the constitution of the charity provides that on dissolution of the charge its property becomes the property of the diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney, to be used for the benefit of the church there. The chapel building does not belong to the charity but is held in a separate trust under the auspices of The Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney (the “Diocese Trustees”). Discussions for the Diocese Trustees to transfer the chapel building to the National Trust for Scotland at Mar Lodge are now at an advanced stage. Unlike the building, the majority of the moveable contents of the chapel were the property of the charity. They have been listed under the 2023 accounts and given a value totaling £8,060. Like the charity funds, ownership of these contents is also to transfer to The Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney. The trustees have informed the diocese that if the transfer of the chapel building to the National Trust for Scotland is completed, they wish for the bulk of the contents to also come under the stewardship of the National Trust for Scotland. A very few items (with a total value £1,755) have historic association with other churches in the diocese and may be transferred to them.

The formal dissolution of the charge has been delayed until the Diocesan Synod in 2027 (in accordance with article 15 of the constitution).
