Trustees:
(Group Lead Volunteer)
The Group continues to provide a varied weekly programme as well as many activity days, visits, sleepovers & camps.
We were overwhelmed to receive numerous Grants to allow us to complete a further phase of our building works within in the Scout Hall.
Our Explorer Unit has really taken off this year after recruiting some new enthusiastic leaders. They are out and about doing both land and water activities with plenty more planned.
During the school holidays in April the Scouts and Explorers had a wonderful week in Jersey, Channel Islands. A jam-packed adventure full of Cultural Visits and Adventurous Activities.
The new Air Heating system seems to be demonstrating a success, with our heating bills being reduced by nearly half. Hopefully this will continue to save money and our way of helping the environment.
Another rise in Scout Association fees is hitting hard. We have kept down our annual fees to help our members whatever way we can to lessen the pressure of financial worries in the current climate. We continue to promote our Rag Bag collections which helps to meet the shortfall for subscription fees.
We are delighted to have been successful in gaining the Scottish Government funding to develop our HQ after many attempts. Planning consent has now been approved and building works are due to commence very soon. This includes a new roof, fascia’s, downpipes and the building of an outdoor barn/garage.
