## **Achievements and performance**

|**Summary of the main achievements of**
**the charity during the financial period**|Similar to previous years, the Company Section participated in national
competitions consisting of Table Tennis and Badminton. No battalion events took
place during this session. The Anchor Boys and Junior Section were again able to
attend their external annual Christmas outing, and this year went to the Cameo
cinema in Edinburgh.
Overall the Company operated within a varying figure of c.12-13 boys which was
slightly down compared to the previous year. This year we continued on full
subscriptions to be paid by members given regular meetings continued and the
Company was looking to run various events and Camps.
In line with previous years, the Company was also able to run it’s Annual Display in
the church hall at the end of the year to present awards, display the Company to
parents and celebrate the year collectively.
The organisation was continuing to make use of the Currie Kirk Church Hall which
meant no additional expenditure on meetings.|

## **Financial review**

## **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

The 65th Edinburgh Company continues to possess small financial reserves from backdated Gift Aid and corporate community cashback schemes. With the declining membership over past five years, any deficits have aimed to be balanced through raising subscriptions costs. We continue to receive community cashback donations through staff employers. Full Company subscriptions increased this year and set to Anchor Boys £90, Junior Section £90 and Company Section £100. These are reviewed annually at the Company AGM held prior to the start of session in September. Sibling discounts are still offered to parents with more than one child in the company, should they offer to take it and likewise alternate sums agreed with parents who require financial support. At a minimum, the Company continues to aim to retain around £1,000 - £1,500 in reserve to ensure that capitation fees are paid at the beginning of each session (i.e. by October to the national body of the Boys’ Brigade for Public Liability Insurance in respect of Company numbers). This position remains consistent with previous years.

**Details of any deficit** The Company incurred a deficit of £114 this year. This deficit is down on the previous year (£768). The expenses decreased this year due to the Company not running a Camp unlike the previous year, and less travel and food expenses on reduced national competition participation for the older section. **Donated facilities and services (if any)** N/A
