Our aim is to promote and protect Scotland’s historic garden and designed landscape heritage. We carry out conservation projects with volunteers, organise lectures and study days for our members and provide support to local and national authorities. Our online newsletter is issued three times a year, and we also produce an annual edition of The Pleasaunce.

Objectives: The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The advancement of education by promoting the study of the history of gardens, gardening, landscape gardening and horticulture in all its aspects. and 4.2 The advancement of heritage values by advocating the protection and conservation of historic parks, gardens and designed landscapes and by advising on their conservation in accordance with best practice.
