The choral scholarship progFramme continues to provide us with youngier singiers who supplement the choir each )'ear. -I'he progiranime was agiain funded b), donaiions from the Priends of Momingyside. Summer and Christmas concerts orgJanized bj our org?anist and choirmaster. and ienerous priiaie donations. Our orgjanisi helped produce a CD of favourite org?an pieces. and the proceeds of the sale went to the Choral Scholarship fund. Not onl). do our choral scholars 5ingJ on Sundays. bul they have also been supportive of the Summer concerts (sinbJing7 and playingF niusical instrniment5 With our first ever marimba 5010 ihis suminerl) but also provided a small gFroup to sing? a5 a miisical interlude at the 2025 Christmas Tree Festival. Their commiiment and engFagJ¢ment with the life of our Church is to be conimended. It allows members of the congregation and the ider community to gather in Church to remember loved ones who haN'e died as ivell as difficult memories and situations in the community and wider world. These two quieter services are a significant addition to our services and do attract support from the wider communits.. It was noticeable this year given the number of funerals the Minister conducled for church members and for people in the parish and beyond that many came along to one or other of these seTh'ices. The lime for tea and coffee afterwards has a strongly supportive feel and is gTreatl)' appreciated bv people who have faced sad and difficult situations. The Flower Committee and those who donate flowers lo the Church each Sunday enable a quiet ministry of kindness lo people in the congiregyalion and far beyond. Whether or nol Ihere is a 'rea8on' t-or receiving, flowers. beingy remembered in this aY is a gyentle fonll of pa%toral care and evangrL.li8m thal Lonlinues lo be apprecialed. Nearly 200 people attended. With all of the work associated with MomingTside Hope. we continue to be indebted to our Pastoral Assistant, Jacqui Lindsay. Throughout the year il has often been the'small thingFS that haie helped shaped our ¢ongFregJational life. ¢ommuni¢aling? our b¢li¢f in the Good News of Jesus Christ. We are not simply a charity. We are a Christian Church. and it 1% nur fdiih that infnmis and impel.% our liiwcd-out kindnc%% and earc. In one iway it is a relalively small act ol. kindness. but its impact on the congrebyation al Sundav tea and cofTee. and on the recipiLnt. is immense. We remain biratelul to our kind and byenerous baker. who seeks no plaudits lor Ihe work. The other 'small thing. happens outside the Church just before Easter. During Lockdown and the Covid Pandemic the Sunday Club leaders ivondered holv ive mighi still show the outside world that ei'en although in those da)'s ihe Church could not be open as usual. we were still in the business of proclaiming the Easter message and ihe resurreclion of Jesus. Ii was an instant success with Church and community over Easter, and the Easter tree is now as regular a fixture in the Church calendar as the Christmas tree exhibition. The Social Committee also played a supportive role in oiher activities- Tw'ice in March and twice in Oclobcr. soup and sandwiches were served to those attending the Pastoral Assistant's ewening? Traininbi Classes. In June a drinks and nibbles reception was held for ihe Choir after they had sung Choral Evensong. It was the last Sunday for ihe Choral Scholars for 2024-2025, In May and October. in conjunclion with the Outreach Committee. two Speaker Suppers were held. -rhe fomiat is ihat although ihe actual meal is seTh'ed. and provided by an outside caterer, all other arrangements including providing drinks. seTring coffee. and clearing up afterwards fall to the Social committee, supported bj. the caretaker on duty. After the meal. the guest speaker giTres a short talk and answers any queslions raised on the subject. In March the speaker was Janet, Lady Balfour of Burleigh ivho spoke about two of her EK)oks. a biographv of Agatha Christie and a biography of Edwina Mounibatten. In October the speaker il'as Sir Paul Grice, who after a career as a senior civil Sern'ant is now Principal and Vice Chancellor of Queen Margaret University. In 9025 congregational offerings (Free Will Offering and Open Plate) amounted to £133,016 resulting in a 2.4 % increase on the 2024 lei'el of gT ji'ingT of £129.8JS. The total figTure came from Free Will OfferingT of £122.711 and £10.305 from the Open Plate. The tolal congyregTational membership roll as al end December 2025 was 308 of which we could identify 185 active contributingy members. An important source of income for the Church comes from the gyift aid claimed on gJjft-aided ol-leringF%, and in ?0?5 this amounted lo £) j ?06 {2024- £i6.895) thanks to proinpl claims lodgJed with HMRC by the free Ik'ill Olleringi and Gilt Aid Convener. Rental income in 2025 for use of our premises in Church Halls amounted to £59.339 which represents a decrease of 2.80/0 over Ihe 2024 rental income of £61.057. The toLql market value of Anl'esimenls held on behalf of Momingside Parish Church amounted to a toLql of £641.628 as at end December ?0?5 (20?4: £761.557). Discussions on greater collaboration have been undenway but have paused for the time being. It is disappointing ihat more progress has not been made but we continue to be optimistic for the opportunities this could bring. Despite that, we believe ihere is already much synergy in the work undertaken by both Morningyside and Greenbank and whether as a single congregiation or in a new largTer unit there is likely to be a conlinuation and possible deTr'elopment of many aspects of the work currently undcrtaken. Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (a) to (c) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) ( c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent examiner's statement

My examination is ca ied out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
