None of the Trustees received any remuneration during the period. ## **Structure Governance & Management** ## **Constitution** The Group is constituted in terms of the Policy, Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association. The Group is a charity registered in Scotland, No SC034313. ## **Appointment of Trustees** The Group Trustee Board, which normally meets on a quarterly basis, are the charity’s trustees. Membership of the Trustee Board is open to all parents and guardians of the children of the Group. Trustees are elected at the Annual General Meeting which is normally held in September. ## **Management** The Trustees are responsible for the direction and governance of the Group, whilst day-to-day running is delegated to each Section Lead Volunteer and their team members, all of whom are volunteers. The Trustees are particularly aware of their responsibilities for health and safety, especially for the children. All Trustees and Section Volunteers have disclosures under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. ## **Objectives & Activities** ## **Charitable Purpose** The purpose of the Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The method of achieving the aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, and guided by adult leadership. ## **Activities** The Group has undertaken all its customary range of activities during the year, all of which are in accordance with its purpose. ## **Achievements & Performance** Demand for the Group remains high, and each section has a waiting list, despite now having two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs and two Scout Troops. We are at maximum occupancy for all Sections. The Beaver Colonies’ activities throughout the year included a sleepover in the hall, Science Centre sleepover, Badgetastic Day at Auchengillan, Sausage Sizzle and an outing to Whitelees Wind Farm. All this cumulated in earning lots of badges. The Cub Packs also experienced the Science Centre sleepover and Badgetastic Day at Auchengillan. Also they were climbing at Hang On, had a sausage sizzle and a visit from the Mini Zoo. Earned lots of badges and enjoyed many varied activities and crafts throughout the year. The Scout Troops are finally back in the same hall as all the other sections. It has been a very busy year for them; starting with a Back to Basics camp in April, followed by ice skating. Scout camp later on in the year, the Sub Zero Camp in February and also achieved their gold challenge award. Amongst their many activities and badgework they also had a Scottish night. The Explorers again were full on this year. Starting with their Zodiac Camp in April, campfire skills in June, Pinkston Water Sports, Camp in November and the Regional Sub Zero Camp in February. Their many activities included Fireworks night, bush tucker night, Burns night and many Master Chef and Bake Off Competitions. They continue with their young leader training and Duke of Edinburgh Awards The Group celebrated their 25[th] anniversary with a Group Camp in June under canvas. Lots of badges and activities were experienced. All had Summer, Halloween and Christmas parties. They all covered a lot of badge work and activities. The Group is busy fundraising and preparing for their next international trip which is at Kandersteg International Scout Camp in Switzerland in July 2025. The Group is finally in their own Scout Hall and settling in well. Another two of our Explorers who turned 18 years of age are now Adult Section Volunteers in the Group. ## **Financial Review** Our main source of funding continues to be fees charged to parents, these were regulated throughout the Group, and they are now paid monthly through Online Scout Management (OSM). The fundraising committee has been busy as usual. This year we raised funds from Gift Aid, a Walk to Switzerland, sponsored walk, Halloween Raffle and a coffee morning. We have moved over to OSM for our financial accounts which breaks down the accounts faster and easier. Our International Account is steadily increasing with the members paying up their trip monthly and the amount of fundraising that has taken place over the year. The closing balance is £45,809.28 which is restricted funds and solely used for the international trips. The next trip is in July 2025 to KISC, Switzerland. Our rent for the new hall was £10,000 for 2 years. We have spent all the grant money that we received on camping equipment, camps, and outdoor activities. Receipts on unrestricted funds were £37,730 (2023/24: £31,350). Receipts on restricted funds were £31,259 (2023/24: £34,483). Payments for the year were £50,444 (2023/24: £44,575). The resultant surplus for the year was £18,544 (23/24 £21,257). ## **Reserves Policy – unrestricted** The Trustees believe that a minimum level of Unrestricted Reserves should be 40% of annual expenditure to meet commitments and to cover any unexpected expenditure. This excludes International funds. Unrestricted Reserves on 31 March 2025 was £35,715. ## **Plans for Future Periods** The Trustees intend to continue to develop the service that the Group provides for the benefit of the children in the community. To develop, the Group has moved into their own hall. This will enable the Group to increase their section nights which results in expanding the Group's members. We continue to encourage the Explorers as young leaders to take a more active part in the leadership of the Sections and hopefully when they turn 18 years of age will also want to become adult leaders. We also wish to expand the Fundraising Sub-committee and establish a Working Party Group to help and support the new hall.
