Charitable purposes

Our purposes, as recorded in our constitution are:

Activities & Achievements

In this period we held monthly group meetings in Burnside Court, Doocot Way, Buckie.

We held successful fund-raising events and activities during the year which included a stall at Buckie Christmas Kracker.

We received various donations throughout the period totalling £51,053 ranging individually from £10 to £20,000.

One trustee, Paula Campbell Donald received remuneration of £180 for telephone expenses during the year.

Grants

During the year we were able to provide fifteen grants to a value of £8,737 to cancer patients in our local area. These grants ranged from £50 to £1,500.

Other expenditure relating directly to charitable activities

During the year we were able to fund taxi services totalling £12,944 to transport cancer patients to and from hospital for their treatment.

Reserves

As a result of the surplus of £21,628 the group held unrestricted funds at the period end of £58,467, These funds will allow us to continue to give support for individuals either directly or through the donating of equipment to our local community nurses in the coming year.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Buckie & District Cancer Support Group | report on the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 20 July 2025, which are set out on pages 5 to 6.

Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 (“the 2005 Act”) and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended) (the 2006 Regulations”). The charity's trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(d) of the 2006 Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section (44)(1)(c) of the 2005 Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of Independent Examiner’s Statement

My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeks explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, | do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
