At HOPE for Autism, our mission is dedicated to support and empower autistic people and their families. Our vision is a society where the autistic voice is understood and championed. We encourage and actively seek ways to help everyone to fulfil their potential and live the life they choose. We promote a culture of values-based practice, enshrined in human rights. We promote and value: respect and fairness, care and compassion, solution-focused strategies and partnerships. Our activities: 1. Support Service –parent/carer support groups, individual support, drop-ins for autistic young people and adults, coaching/mentoring, phonecalls/emails and signposting. 2. Group Programmes, Sports and Activities for autistic people of all ages. 3. Autism training for public, private and third sector.
Objectives: To relieve those in need, including both children and adults, by reason of their being affected by an Autistic Spectrum disorder, within North Lanarkshire ('the Operating Area') through (among other things) providing assessments, advice and support and providing information on how to access services provided by other organisations which support the needs of such individuals. To provide recreational facilities within the Operating Area, and organise recreational activities within the Operating Area, with such facilities/activities being made available to children and adults with an Autistic Spectrum disorder and their families and carers, with the object of improving their conditions of life. To advance education primarily among the residents of the Operating Area through raising awareness of issues which affect children and adults with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and their families and carers. To advance health by promoting research into the causes, the prevention and the relief of Autistic Spectrum disorders. To advance citizenship and community development within the Operating Area, and in particular promotion of the voluntary sector and the effectiveness and efficiency of charities operating within the Operating Area. To promote, operate, establish and/or support other similar projects and programmes which further charitable purposes particularly for the benefit of residents of the Operating Area.
