**What the charity does:** The principal objectives of East Lothian Young Carers are to relieve poverty and distress, increase the health and welfare and advance the education of young people who have caring responsibilities in East Lothian.   East Lothian Young Carers provides support to young carers aged 5-24 who care for a family member with an illness, disability, mental health illness or substance misuse problem. We have over twenty years of providing friendly, holistic family centred support to young carers and their families.   We believe that young carers are children first and foremost and should be supported to be able to enjoy their childhood and have access to the same opportunities as other young people. We offer young carers information, support and regular breaks from caring. The needs and views of young carers are at the heart of the support we provide. We support young carers for as long as they need us.

**Objectives:** To relieve the poverty and distress, increase the health and welfare, and advance the education of young people with caring responsibilities in East Lothian.
