Guthrie Village Hall Trustees Report 2024/25
The number of lets 1/11/24 — 31/10/25 was 146.
A list of regular users follows:
Steven Carcary - Scottish country dancing AETA - Meetings, talks and day schools. Art class — open to all, for beginners upwards. Lisa Bodman — Dog training Ernie Goetz — band practice (The Poor Boys).
No fund raising events were held due to the death, and in respect of the Chair, Alexander Stewart (Sandy). Sandy was forced to step down from the committee and his post of Chair in March 2025 due to ill health. Sadly he passed away in June 2025. Brian Ramsay had been a trustee of Guthrie Village Hall (GVH) from 1984 but in April 2024 stepped down due to his retirement as Minister of the Parish. Due to his experience with the GVH committee, Brian was the obvious choice for Chair and kindly agreed to step in.
Committee members from 1/11/24 — 31/10/25 were as follows: Chair — Sandy Stewart, from March then Brian Ramsay Treasurer — Maggie Long
Secretary — Christine Shand Members Rebecca Coatswith, Sheena Adams, Tony Adams Trustees — Ruaraidh Ogilvie, Dan Pena and Heather Gourlay.
The management committee of GVH under the supervision of the trustees has run the hall in accordance with the constitution for the benefit of the parishes of Guthrie, Rescobie and Kirkden with no bias against class, religious belief or politics.
The hall has been maintained to a continued high standard with any works carried out as required.
The financial report show funds in a good and stable position.
Despite the very sad and unexpected death of Sandy the hall has continued to go from strength to strength, however, there was no enthusiasm for fund raising. Sandy had been Chair since 2004 and the committee felt overwhelming shock, but, the GVH continues to be successful and vibrant, exactly as Sandy would have wished..
