Chairman's Report 2024
Aims and Ob'ects of Sons of Thunder:
It has been pointed out by OSCR that the original governing document of Sons of Thunder
hadn't been reviewed since inception, 25th January 20021 OSCR in its analysis of our most
recent annual report suggested we update and revise our Governing Document. particularly io
make it more relevant to what we do! At the 3 ISI October ?0?4 meeting of trustees it was aTr-.-
that the original aims etc. were a bit too naLTOW and dith)'t Properly represent what we as a
charity are tying to achieve. The revised text is as follows..

love ofJesus Christ Ihrough performance of music and ¢0 raise moneyfor, and raise
awareness of, HIV/AJDS orphans in the area of Ihe CCAP Hospital, Ekwendeni, Malawi.

l think this alteration covers our purposes more Clearly.
In 2024 we received some very generous donations which enabled the charity to send another £3,5Ji
to the HIVIAIDS Orphan Care Project in Ekwendeni, Malawi.
Again, we were unable to hold another fundraising'Kovwirana' concert during 2024 but fortunateli i'j2
have maintained a significant level of support to Ekwendeni.
Without this generous support Sons of Thunder could not assist many of the F)oor, disadvantaged 2-..c
under-privileged in Northern Malowi. one of the poorest nations in the world. We wish to thank a.. O-.
our donors for their generosity.

As noted in the Chairrnan's Report on page 3. the main annual fundraising'Kovwirana' ever:.
was again not held in 2024 however with donations received elsewhere. including a £100
monthly standing order from friends within the Langside Church family, the charity is still
supporting the work of the HIV/AIDS Orphan Project in Ekwendeni.

£4,306.16 in donations and Gift Aid tax re-claimed, and sending another £2,000 to ihe

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance wi i
the-erms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotlandl Act 2005 and the Charities
Accounts (Scotlandl Regulations 2006.
The charity trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10{11 {dl of the 200c
Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as
required under section 4411) Icl of the Act and to state whether particular matters have co"..I
to my attention.
Basis of independent examinerfs statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts
Regulations. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the chari-.ii
and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes considerat-.-..?
of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the truste-s
concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence t-.
would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the v...
given by the accounts.
Independent examinerfs statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention which gives me
reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 4411) lal of the 2005 Act anc.
Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with
Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met, or
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in orderto enable a proper
understanding of the accounts to be reached.
