## Activities

**Purposes:** 'the advancement of animal welfare'

**What the charity does:** In essence, DCGR was set up to to find homes for ex-racing greyhounds which on some occasions, would be put to sleep purely because they were 'surplus to requirements'. We attend community events, arrange our own events and give presentations to interested organisations to highlight the plight of these animals. We raise funds via our charity shop, fundraising events, charitable donations and general donations and legacies. Our greyhounds are not given away but are provided to suitable person following a robust vetting process and if successful, a donation is accepted from the adopter.

**Beneficiaries:** 'No specific group, or for the benefit of the community'

**Objectives:** The relief of suffering of racing/coursing Greyhounds and Lurchers, that have been abandoned or retired within Dumfries and Galloway and Cumbria and surrounding areas and which are in need of care, in an effort to aid in the rescue and re-homing of said dogs.
