ACHIEVEMENTS & PERFORMANCE
Tayside Young Fiddlers had another very busy year undertaking a range of concerts, workshops, busking and even studio recording tracks for a CD that will be released in 2025/26. In addition, fundraising activities were also undertaken to ensure that the group can continue to function.
In the Autumn term, 2024, the focus was learning new tunes for performances in 2025 but there was a performance at Eastern Primary School in December for their Christmas Fair. Spring term 2025 was very busy with fundraising activities with the annual Quiz Night at the Fort Bar Broughty Ferry, and a performance at Eastern Primary School as part of their Scottish Night in January. Some members of Tayside Young Fiddlers also played as part of a Latvian Night, with a choir visiting from Latvia. February also saw the organization of the Tayside Young Fiddlers Concert and Ceilidh held in St Lukes Hall Broughty Ferry. March then provided a busy month with a winning performance of the group at the Arbroath Music Festival, and a high profile performance after being asked to play at the Niel Gow Festival in Dunkeld. This was great experience for the fiddlers to be able to perform at one of the top traditional musical festivals in Scotland. Some of the older fiddlers took part in some trad sessions across Page 3

ACHIEVEMENTS & PERFORMANCE contd
Dundee and Broughty Ferry, with one at the Fort Bar raising funds for the group. June is traditionally a busy month for the group, and this year was no exception with a performance at West Fest in Dundee in front of 500 people showcasing the work of the group, a workshop held by members of the band Lussa (one of which is a former Tayside Young Fiddler), followed by the annual weekend fiddle camp at Lagganlia, near Aviemore.
Lagganlia is a full on weekend (Friday to Sunday in June) of performances (Duke of Gordon Hotel, busking at Aviemore, performing on the Aviemore Community Green stage), practice and learning tutorials and on Sunday, a workshop with renowned trad fiddler Mr Roo Geddes. Again, wonderful exposure for the fiddlers. The year usually ends there, however, 2025 was an exception due to the unexpected loss of former treasurer, Mr Sandy Miller. Tayside Young Fiddlers recorded tracks for a new CD and undertook some rehearsals in August to make sure they were ready for recording in the studio.
Allin all, a very busy year for the group! Some photos from some of the activities are shown below.

TAYSIDE YOUNG FIDDLERS SC032244 INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES
I report on the accounts of the charity for the period ended 31“ July 2025 which are set out on pages 7- 11.
Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
The charity’s Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustees Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The charity Trustees consider that the audit requirement of the Regulation 10(1) (d) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply.
It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner’s Statement
My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express and audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent Examiner’s Statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the following requirements have not been met: - To keep accounting records in accordance with Section44 (1) (a) or the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations, and - To prepare accounts with accord with the accounting record and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations.
-
To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the Accounts to be reached.
