## **Governing Document** 

**The scout group is constituted in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the scout association.** 

## **Charitable Purpose** 

**The stated aim of the Scout Association is to encourage the physical, mental and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society.** 

## **Activities and Achievements** 

**The main activity of the charity during the year was to provide a variety of scouting related activities to the young people (age range 4-18) in and around Kilwinning.** 

**The scout group currently consists of one squirrel dray for 4- to 6-year-olds, three beaver sections for the 6- 8-year-olds, three cub scout packs catering for 8 - 10-yearolds, two scout troops for the 10 – 14-year-olds and an explorer scout section for the 14 -18-year-olds. All sections are run by voluntary leaders who undergo training on an ongoing basis to ensure a high standard of scouting is provided.** 

**During the year the sections within the group participated in a variety of activities. The younger sections held sleepovers in a variety of locations and went on a number of visits.** 

**All sections attended the group camp at Lapwing Lodge in September and attended a pantomime in December.** 

**The scout and explorer scout section held our annual camp at Woodhouse Park activity centre near Bristol. The camp was a great success and the site is one we may return to in the future. Next year’s camp will be in the Isle of Man.** 

**Three members of the group gained their Kings Scout Award, the highest award obtainable in the movement.** 

**The explorer scout section continues to work on their D of E awards and continue to make progress in this field.** 

**All sections are running well with minimal waiting lists.** 

## **Trustee’s remuneration and expenses** 

**Travel expenses of £378.45 was paid to one of the trustees during the year.** 

**Reserves During the year the group reserves increased by £7734 to £25875.88. This change in fortunes was due to various grant received during the year and two fund raising events which raised almost £6500. At the end of the year the group had an unrestricted bank balance of £25875. The trustees consider that this balance is sufficient to fund the ongoing requirements of the scout group.**
