Gay Dads Scotland exists as a support and social group for gay fathers in Scotland. Members come from a variety of situations, but the common factor is that they have a child/children from a previous straight relationship. The group meets on a monthly basis to provide an opportunity for members to share stories and common experiences and offer peer support. The group also organises a number of social activities to which all members are invited.
Objectives: The association is a volunteer led support and social group and its purposes are: To preserve and protect the good health, both mental and physical of Gay Fathers and co-parents, and those considering becoming gay fathers, in Scotland, by: I. Providing a safe and affirming space for every member, regardless of background or pathway to parenthood. II. Providing peer advice and support and access to relevant information for members. III. Providing support to and the opportunity to learn from other groups that have similar aims and objectives to ours. IV. Providing health education. V. Providing information to any agencies involved in working with gay parents. VI. Taking educational initiatives to combat discrimination about Gay parents and their children. VII. Providing opportunities for social interaction and networking.
