The Reverend Canon Siinon Mackenzie continue5 a5 Priest-ln-clwge of ihe Cliarges of Mid Ar￿11 and An￿,
wlii¢h iiicludes S( Coluinba's, Poltalloch. After a Joint meeting of Si Columba's and Christ Church with Bishop
David Railton early in 2025, it was decided to ￿rnbin¢ ih¢ Sung Eucliarists on ihc firs¢ Sunday of the illonth
into one seNice ai St Coluinb1c'S, at the new lime of 10.00 am, This was insiituted at candlem￿ followed by a
parish lunch at the KilmBrts'n Hol¢l.
The church suffered soine dainage during a storm in Janaury, when a large ire¢ fell down, damaging walls and
preventing acces5 to ihe chur¢liyard. Tliere was also damag¢ io ihc roof. and onc of the crosses was smashed.
Work conlinu¢s io repair Ilie damagq which is fundcd by ihc insurets, less an cxccss of £lUOO.
The kneelers along ihe alier rail were replaced, and matching cushions were commissioned for the choir s¢all&
and ihe firsi fiv¢ pcws, assisting in keeping th¢ congrcgalion som¢whal warni¢r in ihe win(er rnont1￿.
Donations raisoj al the Carol Seryice will be (orwarded directly to Medicins Sans Fronticre& Donalions
re¢civ¢d by the cliurch from Inonthly debit orders remain￿1 con51Stent, and plate donations hav¢ in¢reasgJ
sligliily. A wedding was celebrated earlier in tlie year.
Dividcnds fron) listed investtnents fell by £377, partly owing to the wiilidrawil of fvnds in th¢ previous year.
£3000 was wiilidrawi from the invcstmcnts on bchalf of ¢lic Fabric Fund, to pay for tlie new kncelcrs and
cushion& and othcr rcpairs. Tliejr was a trodin8 loss on thc disposal of shares amounting to £2,978, and a
number of shHr¢s in the ponfolio were converted to Treasury stocks aThJ 8ilts.
The Inain items of cNpKnditure for ilie year were the contributio￿4 towards tli¢ stip¢nd of the in¢umben¢
1£4.5601, a pleasing decrease in tlie costs of eleclricity and healing (£2,749) and il)¢ r¢paits and renewals
1£4.809).
Financlal reTrlcw
A deficit of £ 7,175 ivas su$tain¢d during the year, of which £ 4,208 (which includes the excess on the insuran
claiin), pertains to the repairs and r¢n¢wals.
After the withdrawal of £3,IK)O for repairs and renewal4 the mRrket value of the inv¢stmeni portfolio {including
the incom¢ and trading accounts) a5 at 10 Septcmbcr 2025 was £127,106, compared io a book value of
£110,191, an incr¢asc of £16.915. Tliis indicat&5 a substantid Increa￿ in the capitat value during the year, as the
mark¢i value for thc prcvious year was £128,270, compared to a book value of £118,544 (an increase of
£9,726).
Plans ar¢ being draTh￿ UP to rdise the fijnds to complete the mof repairs, and repl¢nish r¢s¢rv¢s, which have
d¢¢r¢ased ov¢r the last few years.
