preserve the built heritage of historical interest on North Ronaldsay, in particular the North Ronaldsay lighthouse, the churches and other structures such as the sheep dyke, for the benefit of the community and the public at large and to promote public interest in the said heritage and public access thereto insofar as this is not detrimental to such preservation. To take all appropriate measures to conserve the natural heritage, flora and fauna, the geological, physiographical and archaeological features and the natural beauty and amenity of the island of North Ronaldsay, Orkney, such as the unique North Ronaldsay sheep, for the benefit of the community of the island and the public at large and to promote public interest therein and public access thereto insofar as this is not detrimental to such conservation. To promote industry and commerce on the island for the benefit of the general public and the alleviation of poverty.

Objectives: (I) To take all appropriate measures to preserve the built heritage of historical interest on the island of North Ronaldsay, Orkney, in particular the North Ronaldsay lighthouse (i.e. the second of such to be built) and other structures such as the sheep dyke, for the benefit of the community of the island and the public at large and to promote public interest in the said heritage and public access thereto insofar as this is not detrimental to such preservation (2) To take all appropriate measures to conserve the natural heritage (being the flora and fauna, the geological, physiographical and archaelogical features and the natural beauty and amenity) of the island of North Ronaldsay, Orkney, such as the unique breed of North Ronaldsay sheep, for the benefit of the community of the island and the public at large and to promote public interest therein and public access thereto insofar as this is not detrimental to such conservation (3) To promote industry and commerce on the island for the benefit of the general public including agriculture, silviculture, arts and crafts (4) To provide or promote the provision of housing on the island for people in necessitous circumstances and also specially designed or adapted housing as may be required for the elderly, handicapped or disabled (5) To relieve poverty, provide help for the aged, handicapped and infirm, advance education and in particular promote opportunities for learning for the benefit of the general public and do all such other things that may benefit the community of the island of North Ronaldsay, Orkney, provided all such things are charitable in law under Sections 505 and 506 of the Income and Corporation Taxes Act t 988
