Objertives
The aims of the charity are for the public benefit, to advance, promote and encourage
environmental improvement and protection in land around eastern Dundee; the advancement
of arts, heritage, culture and science in green spaces through workshops, events, publicity and
resource production; the advancement of citizenship and community development through
programmes to connect people to local their green space and training and support local
people to deliver their own projects; and the advancement of education about environmental
cultural and heritage issues via programmes, trainin& publicity and resource delivery.
Flnancial Positlon
The charity took over the assets and liabilities of Broughty Ferry Environmental Project on a
phased basis, completed on 2 February 2015. Since then. a number of grants were received
and the charity is in a sound financial position to continue with its activities over the coming
year.
Activities
During the year, we have undertaken a wide range of environmental and cultural activities with
individual volunteers groups and organisations to support people's continued enjoyment of
their local green space throughout the area around the Dighty Burn These have included:
Holding a special celebration in July 2023 to commemorate
our Project Worker
who passed in August 2023. A large group of friends gathered to unveil a stunning mosaic
dedicated to Ann on the banks of the Dighty, close to one of the Balunié Drive entrances of
the burn.
Running environmental educational activities, including mosaic creation. storytelling, bird
box building and Christmas decoration making in sessions attended by over 100 young
people and adults. In addition to a number of primary and high schools, new partners have

Creating a wide range of pieces by the Mosaic Group. As well as the rn05aic for
the
group produced seasonally themed pieces for installation along the burn and a number of
works based on original painted designs, each depicting a rnammal, bird or insect. These
are to be installed by the Balunie Drive entrances replacing the original painted boards.
Building and installing new wooden benches along the Burn each one with the name of a
bird or mammal, which inhabit our burn environment.
Composing poems on a range of themes focused on the natural world by the Ecopoets
Group.
Litter picking with volunteers and school groups particularly at sltes where discarded
waste is very prevalent, such as along paths alongside the burn.
Re-painting bridges, fences and repairing communal art features to extend their
longevity.
Undertaking conservation work, such as cutting backflora and weedin& to tidy up burn
entrances and paths.

Future Developments
Plans for the next year are to continue to develop and carry out environmental and cultural
activities to involve volunteers and local residents in the areas around the burn. These
activities will include the maintenance of existing projects. We will remain focused on
promoting awareness of the green space and supporting access to it.
Governan￿ and Managernent
The charity is administered by the trustees. New trustees are elected by members at the
AGM and given appropriate information and documents. Membership is open to anyone
sharing the aims of the charity
Reserves Policy
The trustees aim to carry several months, expenditure to allow for grant shortfall. They
are satisfied with the current reserves of £33,228 {2023 - £51,264).
Rlsk Management
The Trustees have assessed the major risksto which the charity is exposed. in particular
those relating to the operations and finances of the Trust and are satisfied that systems are
in place to mitigate the Trust's exposure to those major risks.
Investment Policy
Funds are not held long term. so are kept in bank accounts.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILITIES
Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year
which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the income and
expenditure of the charity for that period. In preparing tho* financial statements, the
trustees are required to:
1. Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently
2. Observe the methods and principles in the applicable Charities SORP
3. Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
4. State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to
any material departures disclosed and explained in the f inancial statements
5. Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is
inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation
6. The trustees are responsible for k&ping proper accounting records which disclose with
reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them
to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities and Trustee
Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charity Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006
(as amended) The trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the
charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud
and other irregularities.

Independent Examinerfs Report to the Trustees of EDEN (East Dundee Environment Network)
I report on the accounts and financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31st March 2025 which
are set out on the following pages.
Respective responsibilities of directors and examiner
The charity's directors are responslble for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the tems of
the Charities and Trustee InvÈstment (Scotland) Act 2005 (the Act) a nd the Charities Accounts {Scotland)
Regulations 2006 (the Accounts Regulations). The charities directors consider that the audit requirernent of
Regulation 10(1} (a) to {c) of the 2006 Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine
the financial statements as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether matters have
come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examinerfs statement
My examination was carried out in accordan￿ with regulation 11 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations. An
examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the
accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in
the financial statements and seeking explanations from you as Directors concerning any such matters. The
procedures undertaken do not provide all the eviden￿ that would be requI￿d in an audit and consequently I
do not express an audit opinion on the view given bythe accounts.
Independent Examinerfs statement

l. Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respert the requirements-
To keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of
the 2006 Accounts Regulations
To prepare financial statements which accord with the accounting records. Accounting and
Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and in other respetts comply with regulation 8 of the
Accounts Regulations
2. have not been met, or
3. To which. in my opinion. attention should be drawn in orderto enable a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached.
